Finally, after the fiasco that was the pos that we were suckered into buying 2 years ago, we've acquired a working, professionally installed, and damned good looking multi-fuel burning stove.
Hunter Herald 5, the same as we had in the farm cottage near Spurn Point, it's brought a partial end to the stove woes, and after a few gentle burns, a full head of steam is imminent and steel will be smelted. Will be collecting a couple of dumpy bags of seasoned hardwood logs tomorrow, but in the meantime I'm recreating some of the scenes from "Whisky Galore!", as a prelude to finishing work on Monday, when I shall spend all day in the yard wearing my Minion onesie

That band saw is quite reasonable .. there is a whole thread about tweaking it up & fitting a better damper.
I was given mine , had to rewire everything as it had been taped & wired direct to the motor . Had to put some new guide bearings on it. Used Hypoid axle oil for the gear box & found it still leaked out a tad so put 1/4 amount hypoid oil & a big filling dollop of lithium grease in it instead .. no more leaks . Machine Mart does have the blades @ app £9 IIRC ( for three blades in a pack ) they last a long time if you give a few squirts of WD 40 & an odd squirt of cutting oil on the cut when cutting . I give the blade a final WD40 spray whilst it's running to clean the blade off before fully cleaning it & putting it to bed for a few weeks outside under a tarp.
I added an extended drop down square bottomed " U " shaped handle just clear of the floor to the opposite end of the wheels, to make it easier to move around and made up an axle on some 50 mm angle iron so I could put some inch wide by 6 " dia solid Delrin wheels on it .
Hurrah and huzzah, a tidy workshop, complete with lairy matting on the floor

.Got a lot of mods lined up. I might get round to some of them over the Christmas break. I want to make a new stand for it, add the damper and also put a little coolant system on it.

It wasn't quite the simple fix I was hoping it was. I depressed the belt guard switch and pressed the on button and nothing. Lifted the switch up and noticed one of the spade connectors loose. Pushed it on properly and tested it again and it bingo! Happy days!
Going to design a stand for it over the break and hopefully order some steel. I want to integrate a drip tray for the coolant too.

That's nice. Leather furniture seems to have fallen a bit out of fashion, we almost had to give ours away. It was in really nice nick and the woman who came and got it was nearly in tears, she was helping to re-home her daughter after an abusive relationship.

I took 2 leather swivel chairs to a charity that sets up places for the homeless, they weren’t top quality or anything, but in reasonable condition. The charity refused them, saying we couldn’t set someone up with those! Not nice enough. If I was homeless, I’d be grateful for whatever I could get hold of to set me up. The local animal charity had them for their shop though & were gone in a few days.

They didn't say it was to do with conformity [or otherwise] with the fire retardant foam, did they? That's the usual reason for declining stuff like that these days.

A Mill.
Many thanks to Fizzy for selling it and getting it transported to my door. The logistics were always a bigger barrier to me getting one of these than paying for it ever was.
Bolted down on four places to a hefty pallet and strapped down too. The head was wrapped in industrial cling film as well. Delivery driver was very kind. It was his last load of the day and it took a few goes to get it into the garage, there's a bit of lip to the concrete slab at the entrance. It was also tight with clearance the under roller shutter but we found a bit of "give" when we shoved hard enough. This was despite tilting the head.
The Marlow is supposed to weigh 400-450 kilos but so does that green TOS drill next to it. The picture is deceptive making the mill look much larger but I still think the Marlow weighs more.
I don't think I can run the motor off a VFD. The photo isn't very good but it states 400v. It doesn't seem to be dual voltage so I think I will have to swap that out. I think I would like to get a dual voltage 3phase motor and play around with a VFD rather that get a single phase motor. I wont have to upset the rest of the control wiring that way.
Can anyone confirm whether the motor is no use to me?
