Yep, their place is in Chiswick. Postage can fun due to the wadding being filled with a flammable liquid.

After a few days away in Girvan with the inlaws it was back home yesterday, then over to Nantwich this morning to collect, ball of fluff. We have called her Evie.

..... I went to a meeting of model engineers last Friday and during a conversation someone asked me how I was doing with the steam engine for my model boat,

to which I replied "I havn't even designed it yet, but I think I'll make the boiler first and Im thinking of either a 28mm diameter watertube boiler or a 35mm diameter multi-tube vertical boiler."

He said "thats just standard copper pipe isn't it"

I replied "yeah its thinner wall than the stuff that normally get used, so should be better for steaming of smaller boilers"

He replied "how much do you need I think I've got some"

I replied " only a few inches the longest boiler will only be a couple of inches long"

later in the conversation I mentioned that I'd be going to Bolton Steam Museum today.

anyway we both turned up at the museum today, which is roughly 40 miles from where we were on Friday and he gave me these.

70cm lengths of 28 and 35mm cooper tube
40cm length of 1/4 diameter phosphor bronze bar for making boiler bushings with.

now just before that I had been speaking to someone else who used to work a an engineering company and a month before I had taken him an old catalog from them to show him. it brought back good memories for him so I told him that I would copy him the catalog. (he could have had the catalog but I got it to donate to the local industrial museum). so I copied it for him and there were nearly 50 pages in it, and presented it in a display book.

somehow I think this is what you can call karma and one good deed deserves another.....also means I have no excuse not to start on the next steam engine as someone else mentioned about the Doncaster Model Engineering show at the end of May, so its far enough away to see what can do, although I hate deadlines.

FIL was showing me his new lathe, he's got rid of his Harrison 140 and a table top mill/lathe thingy (make unknown but surprisingly accurate) and bought a new Warco bench top lathe. Its all he needs as only make firing pins and other small stuff.

He had these left over from his Harrison and they are now mine

Yes I have the book, just didn't seem worth the time and effort so I bought one. If I had more time I might of had a go.

A £53 Walsal contractor wheel barrow with a knackered tyre, my neighbour threw it away , if he had asked me I would have given him the spare tyre for nothing but now its been repaired with my tyre its going on Gumtree.

I recently took delivery of these Swallow 15x80 porro binoculars that I bought via facebook!

The smaller set is my Nikon 8x42 roof prisms for comparison

I think the tripod will be needed for extended viewing!!
