TransTig 2000, a new toy

Can't get that to work, when I switch the machine on the HF starts with the plug connected and there is no response from the machine when the pedal is pressed, do you know if there are any links inside the plug on the machine end of the Pedal cable??

On the standard Fronius cable all 10 pins are connected both ends
It’s a 10 core cable no pins linked out. It only uses 5 for the pedal but it’s used for other remotes so all pins are connected. Sounds to me like the pedal might be faulty.
If the hf starts then it sounds like the switch is stuck on or shorted.

It’s not strange that someone would wire up the pedal with a bit of 5 core because those cables are ridiculous money but it’s strange they would remove the plug. This tells me the pedal was shipped with the intention to stall you from using it quickly and easily. Just a guess mind but I would say it’s a dud.

Cracked it, where they soldered the cables on to the pcb the ends were shorting on to the track that runs along the edge of the board under the connecting cables, de-soldered and re-soldered the cables properly and all now working. Thanks Richard

I don’t know on yours. The socket is different. The two you’ve connected up so far to your torch will allow you to change the value in the back menu up only. You need to find the other pin which will allow you to go down. One of those two trigger pins is a common. You short that with the pin you’ve used already and the value goes up
Short it with the mystery pin we don’t know yet and the value goes down. I have a drawing for mine but not sure it’s much help as the socket is different

Hello, could you recommend TransTig 2000 for a newbie welder who is just starting out? I am mainly going to use it for stick welding, but the tig part would be a nice addition. One would be available for me pretty cheap.

If it's cheap, yep it's a great welder. It's easy to use and welds well.

It is a simple machine unless you have a pulse remote, but they do stick weld nicely and have a very good fan on demand system.

How much are we talking about?

It’s not a bargain if the hf doesn’t work. It’s probably worth the £200 but not much more. Parts are few and far between on those as well.

If the hf isn't working then it's £100... I paid that for mine untested sold off a pallet, any more than that and you might as well buy new Chinese with a warranty.

I'm just gutted that I didn't have the space or ability to move the 3 fronius machines that weren't quite so portable that came from the same place Time synergic mig machines with programming pendants and feeders

I sent few questions for them if the TIG torch is included. The store selling the used Fronius TransTig 2000 sent me the following quote:
TransTig 2000 + brand new TIG-torch with flexible neck + ground cable + stick torch + postage to where I live 330 pounds.

They also stated that the HF start has been fixed, but they have added a separate switch for it. Would a deal like this make any sense?

Other reputable machine available would be a used Kemppi Minarc 150 for about the same price. Except that I would have to buy the stick torch separately.

If they’ve fixed the hf then it’s a better deal. Dosnt matter if it’s another switch so long as it can be turned on and works. My question would be why have they fitted another switch and can you still have the features 2t/4T lift 2T/4T hf. Cos that’s what the original switch offers.
The problem with these machines as good as they are, they are obsolete. £330. For a quality machine going another 10 years is awesome. It’s also a huge risk if it dies tomorrow
So the question is not so much is the machine worth it.
Is it money you are prepared to risk. I have it’s ac brother at home and I was prepared to risk cash to have it. Good luck with your decision mate.

Hey there everybody. I have a few questions if anybody could please help me. I have an old Fronius TransTig 2000 and a MagicWave 2000 Fuzzy. MagicWave doesn't work cause some torch connector got bent or whatever but the main thing I want to find out is how do you set all those controls like post flow and up slope down slope etc.? Also if anybody would be such a good person and point out on the picture what each specific button does and in which ways it all turns and presses...? Please if someone could give me some knowledge I'd be gratefull.

turn the machine off , press the select Switch up and keep it up , turn the machine back on , wait until 3 bars in the Display , then change the value by up or down with the Torch Buttons
