Thanks for the link but I am intent on using my new plasma cutter and other tools to make some which will hopefully fit me and my boots better.
It occurs to me that it would be ideal to have boots with a hard point to attach spikes directly, much like cycling shoes have threaded holes and a hard sole for attaching cleats. I imagine a 3 part system of boots, the spikes, and a leg support which bolt together and negate the need for annoying leather straps. Does anything like that exist?
I had a job offer to be a groundy doing domestic work (mostly cleanup and long hours), with some very limited climbing. Its clear the boss is not willing to invest in me for tickets or even training time. Sounds like very little experince gain so for now staying where I am - no trees, but chance of getting assesments done, and finishing earlier so chance of doing evening stuff.
