That is some bloody tidy plasma cutting!
Jeez next stop the moon. Thats awesome hats off sirI cut the copper feed pipe and fitted some clear pipe and all seems well, brought the jet assembly forward in the pipe and its stopped flaming out.. I may tinker with the tube diameter, the fan is flat out and the pressure is up on the jet. Wondered if a smaller tuber would increase velocity.
Here is a Gaztube vid.

Ok MarsThats with a 2.5mm jet, I am going to try a 4mm

Are you aiming to melt iron?Thats with a 2.5mm jet, I am going to try a 4mm
Bob
That might be what you're aiming for but I suspect like all Bob projects it'll end up more like:Only for Ali.

Bob, I just looked - did you ever mention what design of burner you made?Had another play with the smelter today.
Trimmed down the legs to lose some height , scribed in and attached the top and cut the hole for the door.

I'm assuming one of those, is it, delevan syphon nozzles? Did you follow some sort of plan or make it up as you went along?
Your burner looks a lot more controllable than my lashups.
Its a syphon jet off ebay,

I made the burner position assembly adjustable within length of the burner tube, glad I did because it seems critical. That said I had it running/tuned in minutes and it now starts and runs instantly with no faffing about. I have just bought on a just in case basis a larger 4mm nozzle because I am unsure of the output vs chamber size, also spun up a spacer to try throttling the air flow down in case its all too big.

Thank you.
Is the transformer / electrode combination an "always on" setup, or does it just spark to ignite?
I wasnt sure if you, basically, had the bits above stuck on a standard kerosene fan / ignition transformer / photosensor / control box combination, or if the stuff behind it was custom also?
Thank you.
Pretty sure they have both.Looks good. Does the burner need compressed air? Looks like you have a blower in video.

The compressor does the oil atomisation bit and then the fan does the actual air for combustion.
