What intrigues me about these things is that someone knew both engines well enough think the two halves could be mated.
I wonder if anyone out there is making dog slow K1100 engines with Austin cylinder heads?
We did indeed, ******** if i can find any photos of it though.... i know they exist, because i can see them in my head (maybe on your fb? cant be bothered to look especially), me preheating with the oxy propane, then you welding.... weird? Only thing ive add to whats been suggested, is to make sure it cools slowly. I built a insulated box full of vermiculite for another job (definetely for another job, 100% didnt spend time at work building a box just for my cylinder head, no sir, that would be wrong.....) which it went into immediately after we'd finished. was still nice and warm 12 hours later, so defo will have cooled nice and slowly.... to be fair, if youre anywhere nearby, youre very welcome to borrow the cooling box, id need it back after though, it does actually still get used occassionally!
Imp in a featherbed.

a local guy here did that and made his own 16vlave head for it , it won a few races i think , cant remember his name at the moment , but I will , he was a local engineer.]

Aye trying to think of the drivers nameI bet the old chocolate starfish got a workout as well
Did we cut slugs and weld them in, slightly proud, then put it in the bridgeport?
Is there not a bearing that fits the end as it is - or are they not uniform enough in size here? Will do, blocks just about done just waiting for one more set of plugs to be machined to fit.
Stripped my gearbox and sent the mainshaft of to be ground down and a new bush made for a pinion support bearing housing.

Have you looked on Turbominis ? There's a lot more information about this conversion on that forum. turbominis.co.uk
Also check out Turboharrys website. harry.htm
Would that promote cracking around the weld area as the plugs and head would expand and contract at differing rates in everyday use?
