All done. Tap survived, three scrap as they were bar ends and not fully machined.

Decided to turn a piece of Delrin to create a joining adaptor:

I made the missing parts for the dividing head tailstock base I got from @Martin-Sy - the ram and nut that do the workholding.

I made the nut first by boring and tapping it for a 1/2" - 10TPI LH acme thread. The original is 3/4" - 6TPI but I had this tap so that's what it got. Finished it off with a bit of mediocre knurling. Then I found some 3/4" round and turned a 1/2" - 10TPI thread into that for the nut to screw onto. The steel was too soft for making a centre so I found an old 1/2" HSS end mill and turned a 60-degree point onto it, which didn't turn down to a sharp point so I finished it with a grinder. Then I bored the tailstock ram 1/2" diameter and pressed the HSS point into it.
