Manta GTE - looked good, handled well, no power...I owned an OpelManta GTE in 84, traded it in in a 280 Capri…..both nice motors in their day, but the Capri was a tremendous towing car.
I had a proper go in this machineI wish
Although a mate let me drive his F360. Not that impressed. The Jag XFR-s was better and much faster.
Very nice!I had a proper go in this machine

Was a toss up between the HPE and a Gilbern Invader Estate, so ended up with a W123 Merc estateVolumex - I really really wanted a volumex version of the coupe . . . I still look and contemplate them even now . . .
Still want to estate one with the arise off a 93 or 95 to keep it factoryish......The 900 was too, though with 175 bhp it had adequate acceleration. I searched on google and found one the same year on Bonhams as mine with even the same colour interior:

Blimey, that doesn’t seem right?Very nice!
Mind you Ferraris are rather delicate. One of our customers has a limited edition Ferrari. We ship the £125,000 engine back to the factory for a rebuild which costs him £85,000 each time.
How many miles between rebuilds? Every 3000 miles
I was horrified when he told me that. Can't remember which model it was. I know it wasn't the most expensive though. We have shipped it about 6 or 7 times.Blimey, that doesn’t seem right?
Doubt that would make it along my drive……first few pot holes and bits would start falling off. But its very nice!I had a proper go in this machine

The only car I could imagine needing that sort of maintenance would be an F1 car!! I couldn’t imagine any road car needing an engine out service and return to factory every 3k miles! Even the most exotic Ferraris need engine out service every few years, for big jobs like cam belt changes.Blimey, that doesn’t seem right?

Don't know what it's like on a Ferrari but I know people were complaining that replacing a turbo on a modern Disco was a body off job. What they didn't seem to realise that if you knew what you were doing that taking the body off on a lift was a 30 minute job at which point the turbos were just sat there straight infront of you. Why wouldn't you do that?Even the most exotic Ferraris need engine out service every few years, for big jobs like cam belt changes.
Yes, there's a thing on one of the Ian Tyrell videos about some Italian sports car manufacturer - when they first started putting the cam belt at the front of the engine the car had a removable bulkhead so you could access it all from the passenger compartment, but later on they stopped doing that, so it's an engine out job. But then a modern Audi V8 engine has the cam belt up against the bulkhead so it's a big job when it needs changing. I quite fancy an (off topic) A5 coupe, but couldn't have the V8 one for that reason. The only car I could imagine needing that sort of maintenance would be an F1 car!! It’s a moot point because I’ll never own one but those figures don’t sound plausible, to me at any rate.
One would think it would raise a red flag with customs officials, who might wonder what else could possibly be transported in the shipment ?Very nice!

I am sure people would find cheaper engines to transport dodgy stuff in.One would think it would raise a red flag with customs officials, who might wonder what else could possibly be transported in the shipment ?
Rhs Turbo off on my XF is a tricky job.Don't know what it's like on a Ferrari but I know people were complaining that replacing a turbo on a modern Disco was a body off job. Without a lift perhaps. The RR is similar, basically drop the engine out, but I think it's a few loom connectors and a handful of bolts and propshaft and then the whole subframe with engine drops out of the vehicle.Rhs Turbo off on my XF is a tricky job.
Lhs turbo off is an engine out job. Absolute utter nightmare.
