What's your longest running project?

I finished adjusting my Turret Lathe Headstock yesterday so basically it's ready to use. Facebook reminded me I bought it ten years ago to the day!

I'm really good at starting projects not so good at finishing them so no-one is more surprised than me

So what's your longest running project?

Restoration of a series Landrover, been toying with the idea for about 30 years, not actually got round to buying one yet but now have suitable workshop .......

A 1956 Matchless G3LS that my dad bought as a basket case about 10 years ago, then his arthritis and claw hand meant he could not get it finished, so it has sat in my garage for almost 3 years now......

Too many other jobs get in its way, servicing other bikes and cars, building a 500 engine for my 1955 Matchless, repairing my defender, tidying up my Centec Mill and now health issues with me. It looks further on than it is: there is a tight spot turning the engine over, so needs stripped down.

Think this is closely followed by the DRO kit I bought for my myford ML7 that I have still done nothing with....

Nice adding a DRO to my Super 7 was the absolute best upgrade I've done to it. Really speeds things up.

I suspect the best upgrade I have made to mine is buying Harrison M300

A mitsubishi l200, bought last spring with blown engine and traction lights on, fully rebuilt engine, up and running, put the delphi (clone) on to check, steering angle sensor faulty, so bought clock spring , fitted as per instructions, then when reseting with obd the abs light went ont , and hand brake light flashing..several goes at it since, googled it , asked those that know..getting nowhere......urghh, the only one I found with same problem said he removed dash and blanked/took out bulbs !
only help so far was suggesting a box of matches, the one thing I did find on google was clone obd can cause this

7 years cos someone has a need to paint there and then, (not when it's finished) and been writing a begging letter to the makers for spares for 3 years ( yes must be a long letter) still not written it. Not me by the way. It's hit the buffers at the moment as I have/Railway has, a JCB that needs a load of TLC. last pic of dumper.

My house . Bought as a derelict cottage in 1975 and rebuilt completely by myself , including digging the foundations by hand etc. Still not completely finished but as I say to friends " nobody can criticize it until it's finished."

its a Meg 1" scale model steam waggon. I started making this in the early 1990's, for the last 20 years I havn't done anything on it, although the engine does run on compressed air.

think its already a retirement project.

I wanted a Model A ford sedan hot rod since I was at school. Couldn't find one good enough to buy finished so I thought I'd build my own. A chassis with suspension came up for sale from one of the best known 'professional' hot rod workshops in the country so I bought that and a fibreglass body. That was in 1994........
Both the chassis and body turned out to be total crap. I only used the chassis rails - I've made all new suspension, mounts, etc. Most of the body was thrown away too, I made new wings , scuttle, doors, running boards, dash, etc.
I haven't touched it for 12 years and presently can't see it in the garage...

I tend not to get attached to things, so if its been ongoing for too long I apply my inner Marie Kondo: Is it useful? Does it bring me joy? If not, it gets gone.

I have all the parts i need for a beefy welding positioner project I think has been at least 2 years since I started... it may be useful in the future but in 2 years I've had more important stuff to spend my time on... maybe in the next 12 months... if not, it will be gone

suzuki katana 1982, started, modifying, then away for work a lot so it never progressed, been at least 10 years since it saw a spanner.... Athough, after @Hood getting an african twin thread, I've been remotivated a bit, to the point I got my aprilia running and usable, which means I can now at least get to the kat, and want to get it finished. Decided to go back to all original now, as they've gone up to silly money.. Not sure I want to sell it but might be best sadly..
