I bought this one in Halfords 7 years ago and plan to keep the car for a further 25 years or so, so should get my money's worth.

Thanks , looked on halfords site , same sort of price as elsewhwere but only 3 yr warranty , can you tell me type no. on yours and I will message as thats same rating as I need , Plus lifetime warranty !! the vartas /bosch are all around the £106 mark , which is fine by me , not looking to save pennies prefer 5 year warranty than save a £5.

I put 4 batterys in my "basket " on ebay , within a few days tanya offered a further £13 discount , so ordered that night , it was delivered 7.30 next morning , a varta. lesson learned place anything in basket your really interested in and sellers do offer more discount within a few days a lot of the time.

So... whilst Tayna were quick to process the order for the battery and dispatch it the same day, unfortunately they handed it to Yodel. It got to Perth quickly enough, overnight in fact, but it then sat there for two days. I tracked its movements yesterday and watched it get within a few miles until it suddenly disappear; I was then informed that nobody was in (we were) when the delivery was attempted and a card was left - but then, an hour later, that they couldn't find the address!

Anyway, they're going to deliver this afternoon according to Tayna. At least we'd always planned to take my car tomorrow; long weekend in Durham with the dogs, staying at what is reputed to be one of the top ten dog-friendly inns in the UK.

I used to sell 5 Star and Fulmen batteries. The Fulmen batteries lasted a lot longer.

Always date the battery when you fit it with a paint pen and where you got it from.
Many HGV batteries have a date code stamped on top of one of the posts, I am not sure if car batteries are the same?

Yet the two Lion ones I bought 5 yrs ago, used intermittently, which is bad for batteries, still seem to be doing well. I wouldn't be against buying them again.

Optima batteries are pretty good, we've had some last eight years.

My previous employer had a big contract where the customer wanted all their specialist vehicles (~1200 vehicles) upgraded to AGM batteries to reduce flat battery issues, and Lion from ECP was chosen.
A year later every depot received a pallet of genuine Merc AGM batteries, to be swapped out as the Lion ones failed. Genuine Merc batteries were lasting about 3 years, whereas failure rate for the Lion ones was quite significant, with very few managing two years, and a noticeable amount failing within the year.

Odyssey. Been using the smallest one, a PC680 in my old 5 series for the last 14 years. Still holds 12.7 volts over winter.

Less than half the size of a normal battery.
They do all sizes.
