Wurth Brake cleaner

do not use brake cleaner on ally you are going to weld, cannot remember why right now but I have been warned by someone who I respect.

Because of possibility of chlorinated solvents giving off phosgene gas in the presence of heat and UV light, I would guess.
...which is why most brake cleaners will state specifically "non chlorinated" but still a good idea to avoid all brake cleaners if welding.

I quite like using aerosols, But not the cheapest way of buying it

Only the cheap ones don’t last.

genuine Wurth spray bottles last years. I’ve had one for at least five years. I bought a second one now for my van when I’m biking. They fit perfectly in big wipes holder thing as can be seen in this pic (cropped picture from my lathe post) I buy 5l at a time and just refill. It last ages and 5l costs less than two spray cans.

Not sure but there are loads that look like the Wurth ones. I’m yet to break a genuine one.

I have resorted to a lance that screws straight onto the 5L tub now not pressurised u have to squeeze for each squirt

He use to have the Wurth rep come round, So must of been a genuine one!

I normally but the £1 ones from Wilkos as I'm too tight & they usually last me tbh

I checked on ebay and they run a bit cheaper than Amazon. I have just ordered a dispenser plus 6x1L bottles delivered for £34.99

Where I used to work the wurth rep would come in so I'd give him a list of stuff and the beales catalogue and told himif he could match or get close to their prices he would get the sale.Surprising how much stuff he could discount.

Beales stuff was rubbish compared to Wurth. Garage I worked in would get stuff from Beales their cable ties were a prize example at least 35% would break before being fully tightened

Tbh I prefer the the aerosols we pay around 1.40 + each can so decent value

Exactly, wurth is top quality stuff but if you can get it at beales prices then its a bonus.

Had a look at what we have at work and it's made by swarfega, works very well through the wurth bottle sprayer.

they should do, if they're the proper Wurth green seals in the red top.
They can handle most light solvents, and kerosene, they are Viton seals so basically this chart applies:

Sometimes the aerosol cans seem to work better, I’ve looked into this a few years ago from a human exposure perspective, they creat a very fine aerosol mist.

It’s the propellant gas in the can that sometimes also acts as a solvent, but only on very certain things.

Best to buy in bulk and use from a pump up sprayer. Cheaper and less exposure risk

It evaporates quicker and can give the perception it’s cleaning better, but when I looked at this was only really good for fairly clean parts to start off with.

With dirty parts folks tended to use more and more cans for the same effect. In which case it becomes cheaper to use bulk and a pump up sprayer.

It’s used in F1 like you wouldn’t believe

The quality pressure sprayers can do anything from a fine mist to a stream. I can see the benefit of aerosol cans in some tight situations but you can but extended nozzles for the pump sprayer. Aerosols are nowhere near as everonmentally friendly as 5L containers.
