Wurth Brake cleaner

I did wonder how much difference there could be between the different brands, not much I'd guess.

I am far to wasteful with it to appreciate the refinements between the different makes, I do like the convenience of the bigger aerosols for the truck toolbox but again I am not brand conscious.

Same here, the stuff I have now is Polyguard or something like that. It gets lashed about the place when required.

I’ve got a proper Wurth Bottle, given to me by the Mercedes F1 team when I was doing some consultancy for them a few years ago.

it’s one of the only branded things they had as they were sponsored by Wurth at the time

Brake cleaner was more freely available than tap water.

Bottle is in the playpen somewhere

Must have a look at these Wurth bottles, I use something unbranded from local motor factors and even if I depressurise it the cleaner seems to siphon out over a few days

The OEM for the Wurth bottles is Klaeger. When you first do it seems mad to be paying £15-20 for a spray bottle but you won't regret it. They last for decades and never have any evaporation.You can also buy seal kits for them.

Two top tips
Never leave them with pump knob extended, I had someone do that with one of mine then knocked it off the ramp where it snapped. I nearly cried because I'd had it for 20 years.
If it's going to be left somewhere hot release the pressure, I had one split in the back of my car on a hot sunny day.

That's the stuff I use, silver/grey container with red label. One of our local motor factors does them at £7.50 each if you buy a box of 4 which is a bargain

I bought the sprayer and 6x1l bottle off ebay. Good value I thought. I screwed the bottle up by putting cellulose thinners in it. It never quite worked the same again. I just ordered another bottle and 6x1l combo and will make sure to only use the brake cleaner in it. If the bottle is ok next time I run short I will probably get a 5l container and it might be cheaper. The old bottle did work well with petrol in it. I used it to start my T-Bird after it had been sitting for a long time. It's on one of my videos somewhere.
The only downside that I have found is that the bottles are a bit top heavy and can easily be knocked over when low on fluid. Good tip above re keeping the plunger low.

I normally buy the 30 litre drum off eurocar parts for £68, advised by @8ob on a previous thread I think. That and the Wurth sprayer and your sorted for a while. Just noticed today however that its now £98. So not really good value anymore.

I'm looking at getting some brake cleaner.

I'm not buying this from Euro Car Parts, but just to update how much things have gone up since maz0's post in Jan '21 - ECP price is now £158.99 for this!
