Painted the engine and gearbox this afternoon, happy with how it turned out. Anyone interested in the paints I primed with Jotamastic 80 and topcoated with Jotun Hardtop AX. Will de-mask them tomorrow. The epoxy does take a week to properly harden so will need to leave it for a bit before i install them.

Demasked this morning, very happy just a couple of small areas that were missed due to the masking so will touch them up later. Hopefully back later to paint some of the small bits.
The lightened flywheel had some surface rust so treating that with Deox gel.

Went over to the workshop for a couple of hours and sprayed some black parts, used Jotun Hardtop HB which is a 2k satin paint. The old paint didn't look too bad after a clean and rub down but I got a bit of a reaction on the engine mounts so will see what they look like tomorrow. Flywheel came up nice so wrapped it up and put it away. Thinking I might clear coat the engine pulleys so put the timing pulley in a bucket of warm citric acid to hopefully remove the rust from the pits. Will see how it goes. A few more engine bits to paint this week.

Great work as usual. I find it really helpful when people put exactly which product they used in their posts. There are so many different paints and brands on the market, but it's really interesting to see the different finishes you get with the different products.
The Jotun products always seem quite pricey to me, and don't seem to come in small amounts. They must be worth it though as they seem very popular, and not just on here.

I think for what are decent 2k paints Jotun is well priced, much cheaper than a decent automotive paint. But if you're only needing a small amount definitely pricey then. I have a good store of their paints that I've built up over the years so rarely anything goes to waste. If you were doing a budget respray on a car I'd definitely consider Hardtop AX and I doubt anyone would know. It's especially good for engine bays, boots and suspension parts as it's a tough paint with a lovely finish.

In post 155 the bottom 2 pictures have some texturing in the paint that almost looks like hammerite. Is it a trick of the light or is that how Jotun Hardtop HB comes out?

No I didn't prime it and I had a bit of a reaction with the old paint, assume the old paint was 1k. It dried nicer but still not spot on. It normally flats out nice and is a satin sheen. I primed everything after that.
