Dad home, strength is returning, OT declared him fit to be home alone, been told he cannot drive for 4 weeks though. Probably as good news as he could get.

Earliest appointment I could get with the Jaguar specialist to reprogram the door module is 30th Jan, so have booked a days holiday to take it.

That’s good news. Years ago, my father had quite a bad stroke, he & we were told that you get out what you put in, do all the exercises & work at it rather than sit & mope. He stuck at it & got nearly everything back, except when he’d been for a long walk, he would drag his foot a bit. One thing though, we weren’t told is that a side effect can be depression, dad got really really low, a nurse friend of my wife’s said “that’s quite normal” pity we didn’t know.

My dad likes older jags, the chrome bits he wanted, and a leaper for the bonnet! Not seen one at a reasonable price that would fit yet.

Dissuade him about fitting a leaper.
They were never homologated for use in the UK and an on the ball Traffic Officer or MoT tester will pull him up on that.
(They also look out of place on modern Jaguars. Remind him he's not an 'Mercan.)

Personal taste obviously - one of the first things I do on taking delivery of a modern car is to address all the stick on plastic badges with IPA and floss so I can bin them. But I would never have the silver alloys powdercoated black. For inconsistency I generally like body colour wires, tolerate silver and abhor chrome.

I was given one over 50 years ago, someone was breaking a mk10? I think it was. I was going to put it on the front of my Morris Minor, but got hold of a Mercedes badge instead, I mounted the jag on a piece of wood & it lived on the mantelpiece for years, still on the window shelf now. My wife’s stepfather kept wanting it, he had several Jags, he was out of luck, it’s mine …
