Temporary greetings from Aberdeen. Brother travelled from Innerleithen at -8, I came from Queensferry at -3, then Arbroath for a funeral, up to pitcaple at -5 to see my sister and now bunked up for the night in Aberdeen, which has a somewhat tropical -1

We had a low of -5 yesterday, slight thaw in the afternoon. Looked like it was going to be frosty over night, now rain

Minus 7.7 yesterday morning, minus 7.8 at 08:15 this morning. Went to the pub last night, girl behind the bar said “the boiler‘s broken, keep your coat on” but it wasn’t that bad. Barmaid looked frozen though.

Been an odd one here. Immediately round round the house, 100 yards or so wet ground. Then you hit ice! A mile down the road frozen slush

So thought would only take a few mins to fit the rear boot chrome to replace:

It is held on with captive studs, like this:

Though on the old one, because they were rusted, they rotated in the plastic:

3 of 6 came out, so out with the Dremel to expose the heads and get mole grips on!

Took about an hour!

fitted new flange nuts and gave all the studs a spray with cavity wax prior to assembly.

The £14 strip I bought even came with unused double sided tape on the corners as original, took a bit of cleaning with brake cleaner to remove.

I also found the central locking motor in the boot lid was disconnected, reconnecting made horrible grinding noises! So second hand boot motor now ordered.

As you and your Old Man like shiny - Have you seen the chrome mirror covers?

I can't recall if the base spec X350 has chrome or body coloured door handles.

Now is there anything else I can add to the ever growing list of must do's?

Perhaps not, just seen the price of a new boot actuator!

Don't. There is one at Gaydon that JLR produced unpainted and polished the alloy body.
It looks 'interesting'.

I would have thought would be a generic part used across many marques not just JLR models. Surely there should be many in scrap yards?
