Did I ever show you what I manged to sort out??
Nope.

Did it snap because by the time he had changed filament the interface had cooled so there was no bond?
If i have to swap filament out I always turn the hotend up 10 or so degrees for the first couple of layers after restart, the biggest problem I get is slight layer shifts if I have to move the nozzle away from the print to get the new stuff in.
Our Ender 3 pro has arrived, it came with 2kg of PLA, a spool of black a nd another white. I also have a kilo of dark blue (Tardis) colour PLA and some ABS. I bought a self levelling kit at the same time, that has also arrived, but I'm waiting for bits for the Octoprint monitoring pi. I can't build it until the kids are up for it as educating them was the main excuse for buying. Normally they would be chomping at the bit, but we have chicks hatching in the incubator so no chance of getting them to concentrate long enough to build it and absorb any information at the moment.
So I can't get it up and working, which is a bit frustrating, but only because I'm impatient when new toys are around. So I thought I would get to grips with the software needed. For slicing I will give Cura a go first, not sure about the CAD yet, on my shortlist at the moment is TinkerCad (free version of AutoCAD specifically for 3d printing I think), fusion 360 and simplify3D, possibly OPenSCAD as the kids know a bit of Python. My criteria is not too steep a learning curve and free/low cost and easy for 11 and 13 year old daughters to get to grips with. Ideally it should run on Linux and Windows, my youngest has only got an Ubuntu Linux PC at the moment which she likes.
We will begin with existing thingiverse Dr Who models so probably won't need CAD to begin with but if they get the bug then.......
Cheers

I too use Linux, Fusion 360 won't run on it. I had to resuscitate an ageing laptop and update to Windows 10. Now I'm watching Lars tutorials on the telly whilst using the laptop. Using the firestick remote instead of the mouse doesn't work.
I've never had any luck with wine, nor running a virtual machine with Oracle Virtual Box, but both could be my fault. You could partition the drive and run Windows that way. I have no idea how you do that.

Just to let you all know I've probably done about 100hours of printing so far. Nearly gone through 2 complete rolls of filament.
One pla and one petg, and think my extruded nozzle is starting to wear slightly.
Is there any differences in nozzles etc
Or just keep with the original 0.4mm creality ones. (Being used on an ender3x)
What makes you think your nozzle is worn? One pla and one petg, and think my extruded nozzle is starting to wear slightly.
