I don't think it's done a lot. There t slots are like newThat cube looks like it’s never seen a clamp
I use gunk to degrease the parts first. When dry I then use a series of different wire wheels in a drill. This takes any paint and crud off..then I use carb cleaner to remove the dust ECT. You should be left with a clean surface. To get the tarnish off the metal I use a scotch bright pad and metal polish. This will lift the tarnish off without damaging anything. You get a nice clean finish. Works a treat. What are you using to clean it up, I can see WD40, Gunk and brake cleaner but how are you doing it? I have a couple of chucks on the Drummond that need the same treatment.

The shaper insides are painted is some awful white paint. Never came across anything so hard to remove. I using red oxide hammerite. I have had good results with this paint on lorry chassis.Tidy. Love the colours insides of machines are painted. Replacing the yellow inside my Bantam's gearbox was fun, getting all the gears out wasn't!

Yes I know what you mean. The shaper paint is almost like some sort of hard resin. And as you said the only way to get it off is chip away at it. Fantastic grinder thoe. It's possible that it's not paint at all but filler. The only way to get that off is by chipping it off, if you find my Harrison grinder restoration on here you'll see I'm having an extended chipping session
