i'm going to make a handwheel to fit over the end of the shaft (the one with the T slot ) so i can manually move the ram for setting up

Sounds like a good idea. Would make setting up a bit easier

I've got some big nylon casters that could be bored out to fit

Got the shaper frame on. All good. Just got to get some new gib screws or make them. Hence the Allen bolt .

My day of putting shaper back together is cut short. As I now got go and help the stepson.
Gets on my faffing nurves.

Looking good Spencer, mine doesn't have that dial collar on the cross feed screw, I'd like to know how many divisions it has and what's written on it, any chance of a closeup please?

Yes mate. Give me half hour and I pop a picture up. I think it's 10 divs to 1mm or something like that

Cube on and sorted. A couple of grub screws missing but have an assortment of bolts. Grub screws on the way. Got to make a new t bolt as this one is naffed.

You definitely have the knack and the patience for machine restoration and rebuilding. It looks fantastic, if that was me it might possibly get a splash of paint and a polish of the important bits then a good oil and off we go. I for one envy your skill and commitment to the job.

Thanks Chris. I was tempted to paint. But oil coated cast just looks so raw. The oil will stop rusting. Will work my way round the back of the machine and sort that out.
