It's 3 phase but easily changed. That's next on the list. That looks like a Gryphon motor, same casting as on my grinder.

Pm sent.Fancy a swap on a single phase motor?
I didn't notice any no.did you notice a centre pop mark on the shaft that bolts to the bull (large ) gear. mine has a mark on the shaft and on the gear
The slot has some bits at the bottom broken off. Not a lot I can do with that unfortunately.Shame about the bull gear slot damage which will reduce travel, the other gear damage is repairable though.
That will be a 6 pole motor quite common on older machinery, harder and much more expensive to find replacement motors especially single phase. Most modern motors are commonly available in 2 or 4 pole. That's an unusual speed for a motor. Check the spindle sizes and keys before swapping.
Think my replacement motor is 4 pole. Can't remember. That will be a 6 pole motor quite common on older machinery, harder and much more expensive to find replacement motors especially single phase. Most modern motors are commonly available in 2 or 3 pole.
Depending how thick the centre is. I could get those slots machined down flat and have a bolt in set that bolts through the gear. That's encouraging, as you only need to fix part of yours it doesn't look to hard to do. Reckon you have about 6" ram travel as it is.
Just edited my original post as i have just seen i put 2 & 3 not 2 & 4, Do you have a smaller pulley to fit so you can get the speed down a little?Think my replacement motor is 4 pole. Can't remember.
