Aldi 40v batteries ?

I have dismantled a few of the ryobi batteries and found dud cells but I think the charge management board goes and I've not seen ryobi or dewalt boards only makita but clone batteries are less hassle and cheap.
I'm only diy so not depending on tools for a living of course

Must admit even brushless grinder on 20v 2ah doesn't last long but with 1mm blade it's handy out and about.
I don't use it much but reckon total cost was £30 so not complaining!

I carry mine about in my work truck. Handy if our padlocks we use on gates get vandalised

Yep daughter runs animal sanctuary so similar. We call it " the magic key"
Doubt it'd be much use as a van sardine can opener for the light fingered though!! Unless they had big pile of batteries!

Right so I'd like to amend my earlier statement about these batteries failing beiong a blown internal fuse.

I did have one fail due to a blown fuse and recently had one of the pair that @8ob kindly found me refuse to charge too. this thread has made me open it up to see whats up. I assumed that it was the same fault but when I opened it up the fuses were both intact. Putting a meter across the two inbuilt battery banks one was at a fairly healthy 17v the other was down at 4v. I have no idea why this would be except that perhaps I had left the battery without charging and the voltage had fallen off over time.

Anyway, I have recovered the battery by putting croc clips on a 5v phone charger and charging 2 cells at a time from that. This brought the voltage up far enough so that the Ferrex charger would pick up the load and finish charging the battery properly instead of faulting with the red flashing light on the charger.

Exactly...it seems like a dewalt battery to ferrex tool would be worth doing.

well strange you should ask. My son has left his position of 7 years and all the dewalt stuff had to be left at the company. as he had great service from it he wants to try getting his own dewalt stuff but its expensive and batteries are worse.

As I have a load of ferrex stuff we thought short term he could get a deal on a drill and a couple of batteries but also use my ferrex batteries if needed whilst he saves for bare dewalt tools.

Now saying that I have a hell of a lot of old dewalt tools we could use if we could use ferrex batteries. The original batteries are scrap.

I hasten to add these tools are to just make sure he has tools at home he can just grab for small jobs. he had a kitted out van before he does not need that at his new job as it will have tools on site.

Yes thats it, works perfectly. Couple of the early ones needed adjustment to fit but I used them first anyway.

If you dont already have the Ferrex batteries I'd suggest the parkside ones are possibly better or atleast easier to purchase as are their tool range.

I also have one of those old style NiCd Dewalt tools. The original batteries are turd so I suggest make it permenent by gluing an adaptor plate in, much simpler that way.
I was intending to glue one of the spare parkside adaptors in it but as I havent needed the tool its been sitting on healing bench for 3 years.. (its a right angle drill).

Do a quick print (again) and let me know how it fits a Ferrex 20V battery and we'll go from there. I don't have a Ferrex battery to try.

It got a tad confusing I recall, sending you emails then commenting how it fitted via pm on here.

already got 7 ferrex batteries and an arsenal of drills, chain saw, circular saw, impact guns etc.

I do have loads of the dewalt batteries so could use the gluing option.

No. I'm saying you can solder/glue on one of @Onoff 's parkside adaptors to physically convert near any tool permently to the parkside batteries

There may be some electrical stuff needed too for different brands, some just a resistor added to trick it, others and brushless ones may be difficult.

This drill was a present from my late wife who won it in a competition many years ago.

Haven't used it for many years, don't want to part with it, would like to use it again, it has two original Dewalt batteries, it's metal case and charger.

Charger works but batteries no longer take a charge, generic batteries are still available for it but I suspect pretty poor quality.

Most of my cordless are Makita, I would like to strap an 18v Makita battery to the drill, I have a spare LXT 3Ah.

Is there a battery adapter for it? I know it's possible to convert, maybe, ( You Tube ), but the process is a bit destructive and I rather leave drill as it is then that.

The drill is USA build, type 1 DW976 and the battery is a DW 9071.

I suspect the tools I have are the same as yours. I am hoping to somehow get The Ferrex 20/40 batteries to power the dewalts.
Like you I have loads of cases with duff cells in them. Ideally it would be nice to get a replacement to fit the dewalt but take a slide on ferrex. I am guessing that might be pie in the sky. So alternative is Krams suggestion of gluing a ferrex adapter to an old dewalt battery case.

Aldi just got a few batteries and some tools in. I bought a couple batteries at my local shop, and an angle grinder at the shop in the Town of Neath.
