just wow, only ever welded MMA with Scotls old buzzbox when making up jigs or bodged tools for one off use, little more thatn tacking really

Used the box of rods from Aldi too ...even got peelers on last 2 runs all welded on 6mm angle uising the 2,5mm rods at 70 80 90 100a and back dow to 70 a once id got my eye in/

Wait till ye try the scratch tig on them I was seriously surprised with the arc. My one has lift tig though but they look the very same internally as my Chinese one.

what set up do you use for Tig and they only go down to 20a how thin can you expect to weld with 20a tig?

Its nice to see they are actually fitting these parts, normally they get approval then stop fitting them.

I have a ac/DC tig now so don't use it, I tried it with box section can't remember how thick it was and it did it very well ,very nice stable arc. I fitted a pedal to mine as well.

Phew! Glad everyone's pleased!

I'm beginning to think that the Workzone/Parkside tools are almost becoming Skoda like. As in they were once maybe not so good but are now in fact OK once we can get over the "stigma". I've mainly bought Parkside as I'm closer to a Lidl. Can't fault their 230V drywall screwdriver or multitool. Ditto the little screwdriver / ratchet bit sets.

Had to stop myself on the recent 20V cordless stuff. I'm a Makita man generally but couldn't help comparing the Parkside impact gun and marvelling at the price.

20V too, wtf is that all about? I might have gone for say the sabre saw if it had been 18V and cobbled an adapter together to take Makita batteries. Got to be a job for someone to 3D print adapters?

Sent my boy off to uni this month with a small selection of Lidl hand tools just in case some young lady needs a desk, bed building!

I find the stuff varies in quality, just have a look at what you're buying, got some of the '20v' stuff, been fine. most of the powertools are good, hand tools vary massively.

It's 18v...

Exactly the same as the dewalt 10.8v drills here are labelled "12v max" in the US, and the 18v here are "20v max" there...

Bigger number be better with more numbers innit

Brill, used mine this afternoon to fix a couple of garden tools . I've not used an inverter arc welder before and found this really easy to use. I had some 3mm Sip electrodes and it was brilliant. Keen to see what else can be done with this little box of tricks. Fantastic value. The daft helmet is on its way to the bin and I've ruined the christmas cracker grade chipping thingy aleady, serious hammer is next purchase. Well happy bunny.

Had a very brief play with the one my pal ordered, we were both impressed with the result(s), although I'm not much of a welder with stick [or indeed with anything else ] I managed to produce a few decent runs using it.

And it's soooo light.

That makes two of us. My son used it yesterday, it was like a lesson for me. How the tables have turned!

Make your own chipping hammer out of a 1/2 " round file chopped down to about 6 inches long use the former hammer weld a square ish block on the end drill it & tap it with an 8 mm thread and lock the file in with 8 mm bolts etc.

I purchased a semi enclosed face mask off eBay f.....rom china for £25 ish .. it's the bees knees ..took three & a half weeks to arrive .
Like all these on the head semi enclosed masks you often get light coming in down between the shiny bald head & the actual mask case.

To solve this I made a large table tennis shaped bat out of cardboard to see If I could make a shade to fit on top if the mask to keep the light out .

Lots of masking tape & trial & error fittings later it worked , next step was to reproduce the shape in ac 2 mm sheet of bendy polyprop semi matt black plastic , then pop riveted it on with five rivets starting from the mid point first from the inside . so the heads are inside the mask .
( Maybe an old black or green neoprene wellie could be used instead ???? )

Munchkin says I look like a Samurai warrior with the addition added , but I don't care it's as dark as the proverbial virgins womb inside my mask with plenty of fresh air circulating inside .
