I have decided to add a Delta printer to my collection to see if they make a better job of taller objects - plus the sight of them in motion was quite stunning

I could not stretch that far - I have one of the last of the Anycubic Linear Plus units on order, they seemed to be selling them off and the get good reviews in the main.

What filament are people using, I have tried samples of some of the expensive ones, but the £13 rolls off Ebay (mostly Geeetech branded ones) seem no different. I do like some of the PLA+ though - higher printing temps but nicer results.

That would be a better question for a 3D printing forum really.

I posted some A8 stuff on here and a few more seem to have picked one up off that but you won't have a broad cross section of printers or experience on here

A8 is cheap, have a pretty good volume and works, but I have seen duel extruders printers on eBay for about the same which would allow for dissolvable supports

Good question - I'm thinking I'll pull the trigger on a Geeetech A10, seems a nice one, not too expensive (ni!) at about £170 and does 220 x 220 x 260mm which should be big enough to find out whether I can do it - if there's a better choice at the price, I'd be happy to consider it, I've no clue!

Things that appealed to me are it has an ally extrusion frame and easily swapped stepper drivers, I hear they pop... Plus a Bowden cable extruder, which gets the stepper motor away form the printhead, my gut feeling is that would reduce vibration / resonance probs?

If I could get the A30 *cheap* I'd go for that - but I have a whole load of extrusion, steppers and posh drivers, so if I can get my head around it all I'll perhaps build one?

If they are taking £170 as the Ebay price, then units with 15% off is a very good deal for an A10, I am getting the hang (famous last words) of my Ender 3 and I am surprised by the quality of the prints coming out now.

Well, anyone thinking of getting a delta printer, fun to watch, fast, produces some nice prints from layer 3 onwards - but levelling the $$$$ing things - I have been at it for days but the auto levelling does not work properly, I have the overall height correct but one side the nozzle scrapes the bed and the other side it is printing in fresh air. It is much easier to manually level a Cartesian printer.

Just took a punt on some £7.70 a kg delivered PLA, will be interesting to see how it performs.

I have fitted an ultra-base to my Ender 3 - those things are fantastic, etched glass that almost (see below) everything stick to it like glue with no hairspray / glue needed but then as it cools down you can hear the pinging as the plastic releases and you just pick your print up as it ends up just sitting on the surface.

I am also happy with the sub £8 PLA, it seems to perform as well or better than the others I have tried.

I have however found some bad PLA to use, the reel that came with the Delta printer (Anycubic branded) it will not stick to anything! The pack was sealed with dessecant but will not stick to the bed, masking tape or even itself - it is absolutely terrible stuff.
