To get the lowest rates you have to buy 10 rolls at a time, the cheapest was the white at £6.99 a roll but that seems to have sold out. Grey seems to be the next cheapest.
As with a couple of the other brands I have tried - make sure you trim the bit of filament sticking out on the inside of the real before using it.

I think the HP system is a similar price and VW are now putting them into action to make production parts - will be interesting to see what happens, if 3D printing become more mainstream then after a couple of years we will hopefully be able to get more affordable systems for home use.

EBay have another 10% off day until 8pm tonight, there are also some refurbished Creality units - they are ones people have sent back but they have had someone build them, test them and ensure they work before stripping and reboxing them. with the 10% off you can get a Creality Ender 3 for £117 or the cr-10 mini for £167.

I'm learning a lot about 3D printing but am now stuck. I've tried to join a face book group but can't fathom out how to find any posts in the group nor how I make posts to the group .. it might be a dead book I suppose.
My original Joseph Prusa i3 Mk 3 kit is on order, I've watched a lot of tube vids and done a fair bit of reading about it .
I'd like to get some virtual practice at designing stuff to print under my belt before the printer arrives from the factory in a couple of weeks time.
I've been trying to discover how to get hold of a reasonable free 3d engineering drawing prog so I can play .. any suggestions for one that does not run out after 30 days of being free ………. if so where can I get it?
Found lots of sites offering drag & drop pretty pictures of 3d stuff for 3d drawings to be ink printed.
I think there are other steps but I can't seem to find them despite buying 3D Scad 2019 . from Amazon for my computer had a couple of plays but it's like being blindfolded next to a hammer mill .
I can't find any G code books anywhere .
The next is /are there other computer programmes I'll need to convert my drawing to CAD Gcode & the prog to send it to my original Prusa .

Did you design it from scratch or modify an already drawer/ box design from the likes of " Thingiverse "?

Onshape is free if you register and make your parts public.
It also has the advantage of different platforms.
I use it on PC , but for simple stuff like 3D printed objects I design most of them on the IPad.
Great for designing things when sat in front of the TV
I have just finished designing a Wooden Workbench for my garage.
Drawn mostly on the IPad and using variables and beams.
So I can change the variables for the length, width & height and the workbench adjusts for the new sizes.
The Beam feature is where you can assign different stock like angle, box section etc.
Changing the stock is very simple.
It is very similar to weldments in Solidworks

from scratch.
it's basically designed as a solid rectangular "brick" then a smaller brick removed to make the drawer.
then an even smaller "slice" removed from the front to make the label holder.
then export the design as a "STL" file.
(it's in the "3dprint menu")
I use autodesk fusion 360.
it's free, powerful, and there's LOADS of online tutorials.
it also doesn't need a ridiculously powerful computer to run - I ran it on a dual core 2ghz with motherboard graphics - perfectly ok for simple designs.
I upgraded to a 6 core + (gaming) graphics card for less than £200 and it now *flies*
don't worry about learning gcode - cura (which is what I use) and slicr convert your STL file to gcode
you might need to add the odd line of code to fine-tune your printer, but again, plenty of tutorials online and it only has to be done once.
those are the only programs I use.
I did a search on top 10 free
Chose FreeCad 2
Added the dependency script
Added a screwmaker script
Modified a copy of the screwmaker script for clearancing nuts
Everyone that I have shown the stuff I can do with lofting tool in 30seconds likes it

Startup and student licences can be renewed after one year, believe that a button appears reminding of renewal possibly 30 days before expiry date. Seems a few people have problems with this but autodesk forum support seems helpful in helping with renewal
Also seems to the go to program for 90% of 3D designers.
Is it the graphics card thats important as opposed to processor and ram on computer?

it depends...
fusion 360 is optimised to use a gaming graphics card for its calculations so that is the major factor.
ram (as opposed to vram) seems to be more significant as design size/no of parts increases.
processor speed isn't as big a factor: apparently, it's not "multithreaded" except when rendering, so number of cores (allegedly) isn't so important, either.
I changed everything at once, so don't have first hand experience of the effect of each separate component
THE major improvement, more than anything else, by a significant factor, was to install windows + fusion on a SSD, rather than HD.
I bought a smallish one - 128gb? - for 50 quid.
virtually instant boot-up and loading of programs.
