Those airbrushes look like christmas present territory. Can you get tins of pressurised gas to run them or do they require a small compressor ?

I used tins of air then switched to small car inner tubes when I got a compressor.

I still have a few bits in the loft.

When I had saved enough pocket money I would be in Woolworths on Saturday morning deciding which one to buy next, the basic kits came in a plastic bag with a paper "header" and cost 19p at the time.

Must have been a hoarder from a nipper

As a young lass, used to buy the motorcycle kits and convert them into custom bikes. Extended fork, handlebars, the whole show. Including that BMW.

I was quite shocked at how expensive these kits are to buy nowadays. Bought a kit for a diorama I’m working on, and it had the grand total of eight parts to fit together, but it was cheap. I skulk around ebay if I need any for parts now.

As to painting, although I have a proper, half decent airbrush compressor, I still on occasions use the cheap ‘nail art’ mini compressor I bought off amazon several years ago. very handy for big areas, or if you’re into aging and shading stuff, otherwise a good quality brush does it.

oh, and a decent magnifier and light.

Well that's a coincidence, I also chopped the BMW kit, raked frame, extended forks etc. even made a coffin petrol tank out of plasticard. It had pride of place on a windowsill until it got caught in closing curtains one day and plummeted to it's death

my brother in law is part way through building a 1/8 scale Pocher Lotus 72

you'll need to sit down before you see the price though as they come in at over £600

Not curtains but I had about ten airfix kits on the mantelpiece in my bedroom. One evening my Dad was carrying a roll of carpet past and knocked the lot off. Still he’d been on heavy anti aircraft guns during the war so maybe he couldn’t help himself

I Love the Mini. That came out so good. How you getting on with that rally Escort? I built that kit as a kid. Not moulded as nicely as the Tamiya Mini if I remember correctly.

I used to build loads as a kid, then stopped. During Covid lock down I tried again with this BMW 2002...
