The Mini kit could have done with some badly fitting oversills to look more authentic. Thats what all mine had !

Tamiya used to do some superb contemporary F1 cars 1.8 scale ? Back in the Seventies. Built a couple of those back then.

Still got a JU87 Stuka that I built up in the loft somewhere.

I Love the Mini. That came out so good. How you getting on with that rally Escort? I built that kit as a kid. Not moulded as nicely as the Tamiya Mini if I remember correctly.

I used to build loads as a kid, then stopped. During Covid lock down I tried again with this BMW 2002...

Nearly done. Ive resorted to pics of the real thing for details, which led me to paint the metal “whatevertheyarecalleds” the right colour, because the kit instructions arent at all clear on where they fit. Unfortunately there arent any tiny ratchet straps in the kit

Up there where it mentions the XU diesel... I had a 309GRDT that used one of that series. It was an odd capacity, about 1750cc or something as I recall, where 1900 became more common. It was a fantastic engine: low-down torque around the town and like stuff off a shovel when you floored it.
I never thought the later 1.9 was as nice - or as easy to work on: the 1750 was a piece of cake to change the cambelt on, unlike more recent offerings from France.

Within the limitations of the kit build quality and supplied paint, it’ll do. Was good practice for the RS1800

Are you building the Escort next? If your expectations of quality were set with the Tamiya Mini, you might be a bit disappointed with the Escort. It’ll still build nicely I’m sure.

RS1800 started. As expected, the mouldings need some fettling

I've got a 48th scale Eurofighter kit in the shed, I think I excitedly bought it about 15 years ago when my 48th scale Chinook was almost complete. IIRC I never actually finished the Chinook, still got it somewhere with blades painted but not glued on.

Every now and then I think about building the Eurofighter, but I can't bring myself to spend £100+ quid on thimble sized tins of paint, and I also can't just glue it together without paint, so it's destined to live in the shed in pieces forever.

Gots a couple of the brake vans and some 16ton mineral wagons, though won't be done very quickly by any means , especially as I'd like to detail them a bit.

That takes me back, I populated my railway layout with airfix buildings and rolling stock. I particularly remember the breakdown crane, took a lot of work to get enough weight on it to get it to tow without de-railing.

Just remember to stick some weights inside/underneath if you plan to use them, also worth adding decent quality wheelsets and brass bearing cups
