The waterslide transfers are making the shell pop out. Youngest daughter bought me a hawk kit for christmas, and a load of paints. Its XX188 which was the last aircraft I worked with before covid killed my job off. The kit shows it as a black Tmk1, but its one of the reds now so torn how to paint it.

Ive also noticed that airfix are doing an operation black buck vulcan kit that has the shrike missiles and ECM pod, and also an XH588 model.

Finished. Well unless I fabricate some bonnet pins instead of temporarily blu tacking it on.

When I was a kid I was in the air fix club, but as money was tight I used to buy unfinished kits or badly built ones, if the had paint on I would soak them in dettol which took.off the paint and left the plastic good.

Oh, that's useful to know. I've got a couple of second hand kits that had been badly painted and no further.

Hawk Tmk1, which is now a Tmk1a, one of the reds, and the last Aircraft I worked on

Isopropyl alcohol is also good for removing Acrylics from plastic, metal or resin models

If you keep your eye on auction house websites such as rydale, I bet one will come along thats been collected and never built, trouble is it becomes a full time job searching auction house websites

you have too much time on your hands when they are readily available for less than £14 delivered, or even cheaper from your local model shop. an original airfix kit might cost you a bit more though.

To be fair I’d keep my eye out for an original if theres no rush, like the RS500 cosworth sierra I built 40 years ago that my nan trashed while dusting the house

I went to pick some bits up from a bloke yesterday...he showed me his workshop.

It reminded me of a model shop from the 1980s...barely room to move but wow some interesting models.

He'd built 3 or 4 armoured vehicles...they were all metal and driven with motors from mobility scooters.

That is what I've been doing - messaging local model shops to see if they have a kit in stock.

Thought Id have a last check of the parts before whizzing the kit box etc. there was no mention in the instructions to fit the panhard rod
