So I have the Stihl battery chainsaw (the 2 handed version) and it is used more than any of the rest of my fleet (admitidly its only a fleet of 5) for a few reasons, main one is it is ready to go instantly, second one is for most of what I am doing the noise is a big issue (working on SSSI and ANOB's and NNR's and LNR's) also no fumes, no fuel to go off.... That said the 261 and 550i are both waiting for a good reason to get out the landy

Does any one use a saw bench for log cutting now? I have an old Howard 700 rotorvator with a saw bench, its years since i used it but it made short work of firewood logs. Thats only after getting the Villiers engine going.

If you are thinking of going for a 2 stroke saw then its worth taking a look at the echo cs 310es, I bought one about 2 years ago and can't fault it, it's really light and smooth and it's the easiest saw to start I've ever seen. I have access to a lot of saws through work including a stihl 881 but use the echo most of the time. I paid €239 for it at the time so not a spendy saw

You'd better add Echo as stated above plus Makita and Dolmar to the list of possibilities, the same saws models just wearing different brands n colours I believe.

Just remember that chainsaws make a lot of mess, the bigger the chain the more chips. Photo of my small saw with the smallest chain(narrow low profile cutters) that will fit the saw after cutting seasoned Holly(harder wood that I thought) 13" dia and 24" long cut into 30mm thick rounds.
