That is what this dealer said 1-2 month delay you know it will be longer!
TBH 12" will be big enough for me to cut up this oak for the stove.
It is just the bigger rounds I may struggle with.

Clogg it. Takes a bit of time but saves trying to cut the butt with an undersized bar

Ah well the 14" is out of stock on the 310 so I had to have the 12" it was £4 cheaper!

You could always invest in a longer aftermarket bar and chain.......

Cut across the butt, cut down at right angle from the first cut. Third cut goes from the face of the butt to your first cut. This creates logs, you put all the cuts in to get the size of log you want

It's alkalene rather then hydrocarbon based I think @8ob can probably clarify. I do miss the smell of two stroke though...

The the Stihl Motomix smells way better than two stroke.

We already had a handful of Stihl petrol saws, MS180,MS261,MS360,362 but my lad bought a Stihl MSA140 battery unit. He did initially wish he had stumped up the extra for a 200 or 220 mainly because one farms to works for runs the same batteries. He carries it with him and he has used it loads of times. He only has one battery and it still manages to do everything he needs.

It is surprising just how good the little 140 is, one thing that is noticeable is the immediate torque, you can rest it straight on the wood and start up where with a petrol unit you would normally get some revs on first.

I've even cut logs that were too long for the wood burner in the house, I did regret when I turned around and there was sawdust everywhere

I was very surprised by the Project Farm review, it's almost like he had a bad Stihl unit as I think he had a 220 or 200 and he was stalling it out yet I've wathced videos where those MSA220 cut through logs quicker than a MS251 petrol unit.

I have never used a petrol one, so it will be interesting to compare it to my Makita plug in one with regards to torque and speed.

I bought the little cheap version Hotpony shoes mentioned in an early post to fit an angle grinder - it came today £12.99 posted. Don't know how they can make them for the price... Ok so no safety brake but I used a McCulloch in Spain for 10 years and that had no brake either...still got all 9 fingers !!

It comes with an an auto oiler, 34cm bar, chain, handle and even a spare sprocket - all for a tenner!! Probably never use it but it may come in handy one day!! I'll put it on a grinder soon and see how it works...watch this space for blood and flying fingers ..............

I might have to get one to keep in the truck in emergency i normally have the cordless 5" grinder.

My Echo will be delivered tomorrow. Jut in time to take out a holly tree/bush that I think has caused my house to crack!

For truck emergencies get a silky.

I’ve one that lives behind the seats. Handy for all sorts. Even cutting things to length to fit on the trailer etc.

The folding ones are handy. They do fixed ones in a scabbard which are better. Mines a ‘gomatoro’

Silky saws aren’t cheap but they are worth every penny. Hayesmachinery has the full range

Just don't do what I did...

Was quite enjoying dealing with the carnage. Went to get the JCB to move some logs and checked the oil. Was low so added some then as I was getting down, slipped, tripped and tried to reshape one of the other buckets on the floor with my head, it won...

So still have a blocked drive, job list building up and a soft cast for the next 4 weeks.
