I don’t think there is much to worry about when chopping trailers about if you put a bit of thought into what you are doing, the trailers I have modified have been dragged about around over common land fully freighted and not had issues, that is a lot of shock loading.

What’s the French equivalent of the DVSA Mat? I’ve not seen any evidence of them - see lots of Gendarmes about - even out here in the sticks, and the Douaniers are a common sight on the motorway and in Dijon.

As far as we have discussed, it will be classified as an agricultural trailer.

That throws the legality thing out the window.

I tow fifteen ton boats around, and my tractor licence was supplied by DECRA or DEKRA(?), if you're using a Manitou, you don't even need that.

DVSA in French? @Mick Annick , I'm sure they probably have an equivalent?

I'm also just helping my mates with a spot of welding, not like I'd get 'paid'.... Certainly no receipts.

If its moving boats it cant be classed as agriculture in the UK.
Also to move a boat with a tractor needs a CE licence not a tractor one, white diesel, tacho, o licence, ect ect.

Farmers here staged a protest in Dijon last week - 250 tractors plus a Manitou that was used to rip out the gates of the regional agricultural council offices, I don’t know why they were so upset, it doesn’t take much

So once again, if we can leave the legality out thé window it saves issues.

Look welding, doing 12 hours of burning rods into metal improves ones skills.

Nearly done a 5 kg box of rods, never done that before.....

Fair point. I've been an occasional welder for years.

The bloke responsible for maintenance, said his beads don't look that tidy.

I was failing with 6013's vertical, the 'boss' decided to show me how to do vertical downhill. Anyone heard of that? He made holes.

Since I started I said I can't do vertical uphill, so we'll get to forklifts and reposition the material.

I hope I get this the right way round and Paul will tell me off if not but I think the I looking one is reffered to as a universal colum and the H looking one is a universal beam. one way or the other but thinking about it I think it maybe right

It's an H beam over here. For me.

But I'm not that familiar with the steel fabrication codes, I look and point generally.

But this is French boss / mate on the phone, to our local suppliers who fail to cut stuff straight.

I think we're going to have to weld another 10m H beam to this for rigidity.

Seeing as they come in 4 or 5 m supplied locally..... D'oh.
