Had to post this picture .although its for sale but unfortunately not in the uk. My main point of the picture is.....if you study the tooling underneath you will see the original travelling steady....I have been hunting for one of these for faffing ages.

I reckon you could fab a reasonable copy of that steady in a few hours. Also, as I've said before, old travelling steadies often don't work too great with modern tool posts.

The scissor-style ones are easiesst on the machine, if you can get / make one, and you can buy knurls separately...

No. But I have a very nice knurling tool

Slowly plodding through the never ending pile of parts. But what did grab my attention was the half nut gib strip has a serious bend in it. How that has happened in the past I will never know.
