Shame you're so far up north it would be great to get some pointers from another user. These systems are few and far between over here. I know it's a fairly common process in Oil and Gas, Lion Engineering are a large user.

I don't have a manual for the rototec. I have attached all the product literature I have in this thread.

The only manual i've ever seen was the one recently seen in Cutting Edge Engineering's youtube video.

Hi mate, sorry, I missed your reply. The company I am working with use the processes daily so a lot of accumulated experience here. Probably can still help, most times I had a customer with problems it was sorted through a phone call. Common issues usually come down to a missing step in preparation or parameters.

I'll give you one top tip. Dont screw thread for your surface prep. Rough machine the surface to clean metal, preheat to 75C - 100C then roughen/clean the surface with a clean 5" grinder. That is the best way to prep - screw threading introduces too many potential variables that lead to failure. Get your bond coat layer on immediately. Hope that helps.

MicroFlo Torch has just done its first job.

Nickel spray welding some teeth on a 108 year old gear shaft.

Had an absolute nightmare getting the torch working. Until I found a brand new rubber valve in the box and figured out how to fit it.

It's still slightly intermittent, but I think I can probably play about with the valve and improve that.

Nice job. Couple of tips from my experience. Use a grinding wheel rather than a flap disk for prep - makes sure you get below any surface oxidation or damaged material. If your deposit forms oxide Islands rather than "wet out" its usually not cleaned well enough.

Round off any sharp edges.

If you want a smooth, even surface, preheat then overspray 4 - 6 passes in one go then go back over and fuse without adding more material. You can repeat if you want to double up thickness.

I put up a pic couple weeks back (masking) of a scraper blade done this way, it is a neat finish and uses less alloy.

nice job Brad! We do quite a few fine cutting blades with the hvof, but typically the other side, so that as they wear, they self sharpen. Not actually sure what thyere for now i think of it, perhaps paper industry...... sorry, slightly ot there....

I shotblasted mate
