Last night had a visit from neighbours son who now has his own house and family. The toddler son is tormenting their elderly cat so he asked if I could give it a quiet home. Needless to say an all black 14 year old female is joining our other four cats and two dogs tonight 
With being 63 & 62 my wife and I decided no more kittens but agreed we will always have a place in out hearts, and home, to love an older cat so no debating needed about taking in the one offered.

A bit like young kids really. Give them a present and they play with it for a while, then the box gets more attention - I suppose that's no bad thing as it exercises and encourages their imagination(s).

Our youngest has a thing about "bags for life". After a shopping trip I emptied the bag and heard a rustling a short time later. It was Potato. Cats + shopping bags are not very hygienic so I shushed him out the bag. He got the handle caught around his neck and went running through the house being chased by a bag for life. He ended up under the couch. I got my arm under to try and free him. The handle was tight around his neck and him struggling was only making it worse. I got him free and he went on his way, but now I swear he thinks I tried to strangle him that day. I get a dirty look shot at me before he goes and sits on my wife's knee.

The last box my kids played with ended with a broken arm and floorboard at the bottom of the stairs!
