As far as I can see we just play devils advocate, which is great for a laugh, but frankly goes nowhere.

No sorry Ive no better plan. I dont think this is provocative in the least but if subjects are off the table completely well it just goes to show how far gone we already are. George Orwell's 1984 thought Police are on the way already, ordinary people are fine with and totaly excepting of it they almost welcome the curbing of freedom of expression speech and thought.
Ive not taken part in any baiting as you put it but I have tried to make light (no pun honest ) of very a serious subjects becuse lifes grim and hard enough as it is, a laugh sometimes helps. I think it comes down to being able to see a problem not knowing the answer but watching the majority of folk just ignoring it. I dont think thats a reason to just not talk about it, be silent and obedient, quite the opposite.

I am not a fan of fossil fuels either.
Gas is a lot cleaner than coal though.
And how can wind power compete with gas? With all the fracking in the USA and Canada gas is dirt cheap.

Very close to Swansea there is a modern gas power station - most people don't even notice it as it isn't very big.
It produces more power in a year than the World's 2 biggest offshore windfarms. Both British.
They cost over £4 billion to build - the gas power station £350 million.

That is a lot of extra hospitals and schools etc!

I worked in BP Baglan until 2000...ish, shortly after they started building it, my mate has just been given notice as they're shutting the place! An operational plant pretty much still in its early years, what's that bout?

I can't see that.
The parent company has gone bust but it is supposed to keep running. They need every fast on stream station they can get for when the wind isn't blowing.

It just goes to show normal power stations are paid peanuts for the electricity compared to wind.
3.5p per kWh compared to 18p per kWh.
How is that fair?

Yes fibreglass boats last a heck of a long time. Agree with most of your comments but sinking boats to provide a reef is good news for the environment. Same with tyres.
Yes chemicals and other stuff might slowly leach out but in the open sea it isn't such a problem. You should see the life that thrives on sunken warships in places like Truk lagoon. And God only knows what dodgy stuff was on them.

I take your point, and the photography is fantastic.
However, it still saddens me, to see mankind's detritus dumped all over the place,
out of our sight, ergo; out of mind.
Of course the marine life will adapt (or try), to their new environment, but that's
not really an excuse. It's another example of 'our' attitude towards our planet, as
if we somehow own it, and can do whatever we like with it.
Life also thrives on regular, land based, rubbish dumps. So, I'm not sure if that
argument is particularly pertinent.

Global warming, etc, etc, is one thing.
The blasé treatment of the planet like some kind of backyard dumping ground is quite
another. It is morally corrupt, and I struggle to see any justification in it.
Maybe there is another postive aspect to nuclear energy ?
That is, our main reluctance to adopt it, without reservation, is primarily the concern of
how the waste can be dealt with.

HURRAH.....

Finally, the human race has decided to think about waste treatment, before creating it.

That's real progress for us ...!

Now, if only we could apply that thought process to the other manufacturing activities,
we might be getting somewhere.

Climate change is very real, but it's also very natural, we cannot stop it.

We did not cause it but we are certainly speeding up the process and our ignorance and selfishness are creating a filthy planet.

Humans are temporary much like the dinosaurs and after we are gone the climate will continue to change.

Eventually the sun will burn out and life on this planet will cease entirely.

My car gets 18mpg but I loathe single use plastics...go figure.

At least I live in Scotland where all our electricity is "green"

Just think, if it was'nt for climate change we would still be in the last ice age.
