I hope you get it sorted soon, it's a big pain in the a**e
So... some mixed news. First off, I can only open a dispute within 30 days and this was an xmas present so the 30 days expired on 2nd January, before the unit broke.
However, they are saying they will send me a replacement. And they don't want the broken one back.
...but it will take 25-30 days to arrive...
To be honest, if they are as good as their word (and we have no way to judge that right now) then that would be a good outcome - a hopefully working unit and a box o' spares.
Not much I can do now except wait 25 days. I'm in the same boat with ebay / paypal whether I shout today or in 25 days time - both are after the 30 day dispute-settlement time.
Tell you what really pees me off, though. I pointed my wife at that ad because it said "London" rather than China, so that I could have avoided all of this hassle, but that turns out to have been a lie.
Thanks for the support, all.
Hmmmm... seems it's 45 days according to thispaypal is 180 days as far as i know

Ah shoot.. what to do.. what to do.. if it was 180 days, I'd let it ride and see whether I got a replacement.
But at 45 days, I'd need to make a claim within the next week. Decisions...
I would open the dispute BEFORE the 45 days is up. As you say the seller was listed as London UK.
The fact that the goods are being shipped from their Chinese supplier may cloud peoples thinking on this.
If the unit arrives as said, close the dispute.
Err on the side of caution....
it counts from the last estimated delivery date you were given when you ordered itEbay's out. It's a 30 day limit, so being bought on the 2nd Dec as an xmas present bust that path.
any update on this yet
