Hi folks! Sorry - been away for a few days, so here's the update...!

The bad news is that the replacement is coming from China so they're talking another 2-3 weeks for delivery.
The good news is that I phoned PayPal tonight, because today is day 44 of the apparent 45 day limit, and my wife wasn't a registered paypal user hence the claim limit is 45 days.

However, after a loooooooooooooooong time on hold (around 30 minutes) I got to speak to an immensely helpful chap who said that the website was wrong and that it's now 180 days for everything. He said my situation wasn't that uncommon at all, so hold out for the replacement but if I get tired of the process I have until May to make the claim and he doesn't see any problems with refunds given the history.

I know you'll all be wondering why I'm apparently making this harder on myself - well, it's because they don't seem interested in receiving the bust unit back so best case is I have a working unit and a box of 98% working spares. Or I get my money back anytime before May.

So it's all a bit of a pain but I'm hoping it turns out ok, and I'm very reassured at Paypal's position on the whole thing.

Now... where's me hacksaw...?

sounds like a result if it works out like that, I appreciate you'd rather have not had the hassle but if paypal are true to their word then its worth giving the supplier a couple of weeks to get a new unit to you,

It's always advisable to go to the bottom of the listings and check the contact details

But that does not mean they don't post from the UK, many ship a load over and drop ship from UK storage...it's all above board and within ebays T&C... it's just a bit sly to make people think it is all UK based.

Why is mine coming from China? Select your fave reason from below;

1. They don't have any more stock in the UK
2. All replacements come from China
3. They're lying and there's nae replacement coming at all

Yep..a good question that, it can be a con to time out your chance of a claim but I think the new time limits stopped that.

So hopefully it's number 1 which is fine unless they start relisting again from the UK, which would then make it a bit dubious.

Indeed. The fact that they don't appear to be advertising the cutter, currently, lends weight to the more favourable option #1
