Cutting brick wall, this blade any good?

Never seen those but given you've got the blade you could always give it a try on some brickwork within the area you are ultimately cutting out (so it doesn't matter if it makes a terrible mess of it). I'd guess it won't produce a clean cut like a disc and may pull at the bricks, but you never know you may find it works and is less dusty.

Edit: Saw a couple of vids and those recip blades look super slow at cutting a brick and seem to be used mainly for removing mortar around the brick.

Yeah I have a nine inch version of that, even with a nine incher you only get about 2 and a half deep cut .. so with a small er disc you will need to cut both sides. Mark out with a crayon or magic marker where you want the cut ..mask goggles and gloves wet the wall and cut the out side to the full depth ....with a masonry bit drill through the cut to the inside.and repeat the process ...a nice little thin brick bolster will knock that out in no time ...

Shouldn't be a problem then, various methods of attack. Of course, I cant really do the job until my door arrives, but I can practise a bit.

Had a go today, easy enough, sliced both sides with the disc then followed through with the Sawzall. Hard going with the saw, but steady progress was made. My shop vac took care of most of the dust.

Only cut halfway down on the second side, going to find something to fill the gap before I open it up completely. Just in case....as the window above is totally fitted in the lower timbers.

Yes, just 4" to cut. Oddly enough one side wall is double skinned, it shares part of the wall with the house so they carried it on all the way along the garage.

Thats the next step, fixing the door frame.....when it arrives. Never done one before, but with the combined advisory weight of the Mig forum behind me, it will be a doddle.

Better make sure the cuts are square through the wall if you're gonna try that. Can't tell you how many times I've seen a beautiful straight edge wrecked when the lump got stuck because the cuts were angled.

Good point, I'll stick my steel rule through and get a solid idea how they lie. They look square, but you know how that goes...

that's what taper plastic packings are for where your fixings are
