Thanks John i'm not too good at cutting stuff.I'd go with 2 x horizontally, even if it means cutting for the switch. Having seen the quality of what you've done so far, I'm sure it'll look very professional.![]()

yes that will doI suppose... it would mean a trip out to buy some timber. I have some off cuts of mdf and just received my hole saw how about making little spacers with this?
Would this work ok cut and screwed to a piece of mdf? It will save me buying two sheets of mdf.If I'm seeing the pic correctly, they could be the kind which is compressed wood-chippings/glue with a laminate facing - they're heavy for the size and I used a bit for fixing my small lathe to [now sold in preparation for the replacement's arrival]
The place i usually buy from don't have a good selection, will have a drive about and find a better supplier.what about two pieces of 18mm marine ply glued together?
The wood is for under the metal the metal is only 3mm.why do u want to cover the metal top up it is metal isn't it
