Do i need to secure the plate to the wood?
Mine isn't, but it's just heavy enough for me to lift off and on. It has to fit over a piece of worktop in a folding work-mate type stand, because I don't really have space to have a 'dedicated' permanent welding bench in situ
I reckon yours will be OK 'as is'.
Can you raise the work-piece off the plate?
For small stuff [I'm very much still practising with TIG ] I made a 'platform' from a piece of 1/2" thick steel approx 6" x 5", drilled and tapped three holes and fitted allen bolts to the underside......
I knew someone would say that. Its being spun 90º and put against the wall closest to the vice. I just need to raise the plug socket. So the vice will be on the corner by the door.Is that the bench's final resting place? If so I think you'll regret mounting the vice next to the wall.
