How much import duty do you pay buying via Ebay or AliExpress from China?
None. I've bought a fair bit off Aliexpress recently. You pay vat up front to Aliexpress who pass it on. No silly courier charges or admin fees as it is all paid for.
Not sure what the case is if you spend hundreds on an item. It might attract duty then. I've bought eight separate items from Aliexpress recently. Mostly Bridgeport related. Highest price was 76 quid but nothing extra to pay and straight to the door.
Ebay charge the VAT on China items too. Seems to work the same way.

Gonna order a DRO kit from Ebay for the Bridgeport its over £200 just didnt want to end up with import duty

I like the idea of the LCD one like youve ordered but none of the ones on Aliexpress i can find deliver here without a 2month wait
I would buy one of these but it says that it can't be shipped to my address. I'm near Preston Lancashire.I've recently ordered this one from Aliexpress. I'm expecting delivery in a day or three. Seems very cheap. Will let you know how I get on.

It says the item's coming from Wolverhampton, but the business is based in China.
Free 3 day postage, but toward the bottom of the ad says dispatch within 10 days.
All a bit confusing!
So, is there a standard to look for?
After posting my last, I put the readout into my basket and went to checkout to see what'd happen, and it seemed to want to charge via Paypal for the advertised amount, no mention of taxes.
The ads are sketchy at best.

I fitted a dro to mine lately. I bought the more expensive unit. It is really good. It works out pcd and all sorts on it. Gives you step milling functions and hole pattern functions which came in handy already. I’m glad I spent the £20 more for it.

I don't trust Chinese kit too much, it tends to be buggy and randomly fails. My approach was to buy generic sensors and connect them to the open source unit. Though as I said, for my simple use, in the end I just stuck with the LCDs that came with my sensors.

I did a YouTube vid fitting it. Takes a bit of working out to get them fitted nicely. It’s possibly one of the best things I’ve bought for a machine.
