I have nothing against electric cars per se. It's where they get the electric from that bothers me. You can't drive a car around on red diesel - and yet you are fine to charge your electric car up off a stinky old generator running on red with zero emission controls
Basically people who can't afford to buy an electric car or live in a terraced house are subsidising the people who can afford an electric car.

Hey my VXR was alright. And the sri 4x4 turbo wasn't bad. Different league to other rep mobiles - and much better than an Audi A4 or A6.

what i meant was simpler. more compact vehicles ... without the 400kg of electric heated, cooled, massage seats, 6 zone climate control, multi screen entertainment .... do you really need them? after all this is supposed to be about "saving the planet" or some such idiocy

I’m guessing it’s because car companies are not in the business for anything else other than selling cars and making profit. For all the talk of people wanting lighter simple vehicles how many would actually buy them and how much profit would there be in it for the manufacturers?

Notwithstanding that it would still have to comply with modern crash regulations and safety standards.

Plenty of small cheap, basic 10k new cars around if you want something made out of tinfoil with bamboo seats but they don't sell.

I have electric windows on my van. I consider that a luxury.
My footprints pretty low all things considered.

Making cars for profit is great for shareholders. Diabolical for the planet.

How many different alternators. Starter motors. Fuel tanks headlights etc etc etc etc etc are made for 100s of different vehicles.

And the die already seems to be set for electric vehicles.
