As somebody who is trained to work on EVs, insulated tools are stipulated for any work on the HV side.Standard insulated tools that you shouldn’t need unless you’re inside the hv drive battery removing cells.
You isolate the battery before working on motive system just like any other electric system
For normal repairs, you don't actually isolate the battery, you simply remove the isolating plug, which is akin to just breaking the circuit.
In theory, the circuit should never remake, and you should check there is no voltage before carrying out any work, but there is always that miniscule chance something could short out (it would actually take several failures) and energise the system enough to cause you problems should you connect yourself to something live.
The big problem with DC is you stick to it, which is why garages are also required to have an insulated recovery pole/hook, should the worst happen.
At least AC will throw you away, and not stop your heart dead.
