that's clean buddy no spatter I think esab have done well with their multi 1500 quid is not a lot in retrospec to what it is capable of and with a 3 year warranty its a good choice and as I said i will buy one spoken to a few members about them but instead of it being my weapon to earn money where i have to have xxxx work in im gunna save up my personal money and have it in my home work shop (when I get round to building it) but @Tom Orrow L that was a clean weld buddy I like it a lot

So as a matter of interest what would be your "tool" of use for work?

depends what I'm doing I'm not posting about what I'm buying till I've brought it then ill post pictures but in my day job its 3 phase mig structural steel welding and fanning then my evening and weekend work plant and skip repair and general welding and fabrication. If I'm at my fathers yard its 3 phase mig mm a welding little tig practise if I get down time.

if I'm pipefitting my ridgid stillsons 22mm spanners adjustable blow lamp for soldering rigid pipe bench drill driver impact sockets hire a 110 rem s threader or ridgid if need be depends who I work for and for scrap what ever makes the most mess

I been investing in my tools for the last five to ten years. Got some big big toys as well but till I get my workshop sorted at my parents house and my workshop at my house sorted won't be posting photos as I've got to get a buddy help me with the power settings for a rotary phase converter to power my guilitens 6ft and 4ft and my plasma cutter. I hope this answers your question buddy I will share photos in the near future maybe with the rebel in the back ground.

Bit blurred, don't tear it apart too much.

That is a nice weld, as much as I'm against machines doing everything for you and I would be more than happy with a welder that produces work like that first go.

It does! I believe it's got auto voltage sensing in it. So it can tel what supply it's running?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe this to be correct I've watched a lot of their videos and it seems that was a main feature plus it runs of a generator very well

Even though it's a 2 roll feed, I don't think it's a cheaply made piece. Looked the business, I've no complaints about it anyway

I purely need mig as already have a RTECH AC/DC TIG

It would be a toss up between the Kemppi and the ESAB for me, sorry to say but they both have an edge on the GYS. If you have that kind of money the one year old EWM Picomig 180 Puls in the used equipment section is well worth a look.

Personally for me it'd be between the GYS and the ESAB. After using both of them I would struggle deciding which one to take home.
The ESAB is a lovely bit of kit with a real nice user interface, welds beautiful and looks the business.
The GYS has very good synergic lines and a good interface, gives out a very nice weld & it has things like flexible voltage and power factor correction. It also has the 4 roll wire feed and 15KG reel capacity which I think are valuable features.. it also doesn't take as much of your hard earned out of your pocket as the ESAB does.
I'd be leaning towards the GYS, despite it not looking as 'cool' as the Rebel does.. but that's my personal opinion, there's a fair few lads on the forum that have had GYS' off me and I know a few lads have got the ESAB. Might be an idea to wait for their opinions on them after being used in whatever environment they're being utilised in

What is the thickest mild steel you could weld with the rebel for brief spells?

I got one last week, 6mm on 0.8mm wire, not checked 1.0mm yet as i don't need to go more than 6mm.

Yes the sMig feature does work very well indeed, its a well built machine, a couple of niggles but i'm sorting them with the supplier.

Mine was on site a couple of weeks ago , and they used it all day ( for 3 days) on 6mm steel. Got through a 5KG roll of 0.8mm and halfway through another. No problem with it at all.
( they were welding 4 No 75mm runs , then probably 5-10 mins setting up to weld the next one)
