It was a drawer handle from the old kitchen, I would have thought mag would cost too much for that.

The fire is concentrated by the air blast, and you use the extra coke to control the fire keeping it focused around the tue

I'm haveing problems finding suitable hight temprature paint in suitable quantities, I can find rattle cans and 200ml pots. Anyone got any ideas?

i'd just use barbecue spray from b&q if you want heat proof, but pretty much any car spray paint will do, its not going to get that hot around the outside and if you think about it you can fry an egg on a car bonnet on a hot day. My old cast iron forge was painted with green hammerite.

If that's the case ile just go with some paint I have luring arround.

Got a little more done tonight, I got the stand all fab'd and welded up, just needs cleaning up and painting.

It's made from 50x50x6mm angle all of witch has been stuck in the off cuts corner for about 4 years. So killed 2 birds with one stone, made my stand and got rid of some clutter in the workshop .

Sort there hasn't been any updates for a wile when I get the welding torch in my hand I get carried away and forget to take pics but better late than never.

It's comming on nicely, next need to start on the tue.

Can anyone help me with the distance the tue should stick through into the fire? I'm guessing about 12" ish.

A forge is on my long term project list but don't want the expense of buying high temp refactory cement.

Wow, that's cheaper than I thought. We looked into building a wood fired pizza oven about a year ago but we decided against it because it would have cost about £300 for the materials I could find.

I was amazed when I fount it, I had been quoted mor than 3 times their prices from local builders merchants.

just get the fire bricks out of nightstorage heaters free. i chucked 30 in a skip last month
