They make contact with the micro switch. Switch is disconnected but it would have probably cut the power to motor so not to dammage gears when changed with the machine running
Looks like I will have to drill and tap the head stock to fit something similar.http://www.gandmtools.co.uk/shop/boxford-aud-4-12-x-24-lathe-tooling-1ph-80210107/
I think the MkII had bolt on guard and not mounted as the MkIII, pics in the link
I think I catch your drift. I'll have a Google for some pics and ideasAfraid there are no suitable pics showing the attachment method but basically it is, like I said, just a U shaped bracket or two attached to the spash back and they slip over the rounded edge of the swarf tray and a screw threaded into the back of the U bracket nips up against the swarf tray.
Usually they are as high or slightly higher than the top of the headstock and almost always the length of the bed. Could be shorter if you don't have enough material as the place you mostly need to contain the coolant is at the chuck end, having said that the longer it is the more you will contain the red hot chips as you are munching away at your metal
Who needs a storage rack? Is that not what the floor is for?If I make it out of the thin ali I have I should have enough for the full length of the bed, I will loose the storage racks behind though

ha ha i am sick of tripping over all the Jabberwocky on the floor!
