The tubes will be threaded at the end with big flatish nuts, maybe castelated nuts and split pins, dependent on price.Try it the other way up. Might also not need the extra tubes!
My slight concern, is it not looking thick enough. I'm on 8mm on the plates, and 5mm on the flat bar, that's going to be fun to bend precisely.That looks great, although I can't help but thinking it would look even better if you doubled up the end plates and welded some flat bar between to give the cast impression.

Well, it's between client choice of rubber non slip feet, to sliding felt type feet to avoiding scratching. It's going on a boat, I think rubber, but we're not there yet..Are you putting feet on it? Flat bottomed supports tend to rock on any slight bump in the floor. Can't see a prob bending the flange. 5mm? Do it with your fingers
