I like the way that the bottom curve leaves the exposed edge proud, going along with the curved vertical bits above.

BTW, just my personal take, but a plasma would have done all that, rather than wait (& pay) for the CNC cutters to do the basic. On the bending stuff, I will start a thread with the assorted crude things I use for bending.

Well I think the next part of the line of attack is to grind off, ish, the tack welds, and sink a 3.2 rod round the interior, on both sides I guess.

But honestly, I think a light smearing with body filler, will make it all uniform(ish). (Over the welds).

And let's not forget it's going to be painted matt black.

Had a rethink with client today as we'd foreseen more flat in the opening.

We've scratched that, started playing with ideas for the lattice filler today, but, erm, 20 mm wide in 3 mm is way to wide, and way too thick.

Obviously this is a learning curve and the balance between 'Industrial' and what can be done for a one off is limited. I would try and keep away from Isopon ;o) and just tidy up the welds a bit with the grinder (flap disc) Even stitching with the mig looks good, but equally well with stick. In some ways, stick might be better.

No mig available here, and I don't have a gas bottle for mine.

Quite happy with arc.

I sympathise with bottles.. my one cost me about €90/yr in rent. Except they bill me every three years, so hurts a bit.
The outfit in UK that does low deposits and rent free was going to supply to France, as they had to Spain/Portugal. But not heard anything recently, I suspect the the errm, 'B' thing has disrailed the idea.

My tig bottle too, hence only having one bottle.

@MCKDAVID says Air Liquide do bottles for life at €150 ish, can't remember, my branch swore this option didn't exist 6-8 years ago, can't remember.

Which is why I persevere with arc and haven’t bought a MIG welder.

This was quite tight knit 20 x 3 mm, I persevered, but after half an hour, I was like, not only is this not going to work, but doesn't represent the wanted look, so I stopped, and returned to the client for a chat.

So rolled the four smaller rings and tacked them in place.

This is the effect I'm aiming for in the void, to reflect this chair design.

Last weeks attempt with 20mm x 3mm, was a disaster...

So got some 1.5 mm plate, and chopped it to 10mm wide and had a play...

Which looked loads better.

Then got weaving and tacking with 2.5 mm rods.

That's getting there...
