Veg tanned leather is best for a leather one. Cut it larger than you need, soak it in hot water and wrap it round the knife and some of the handle, clamp it up around the seam edge (leave a space for the stitch and to trim the leather). Once it's dry it'll have moulded to the knife and gone quite hard you can then stitch it up.

I made a simple template drawn out on paper. Then figure out where the loop goes and make some stitch holes down one side. I also experimented with a simple 3d printed stamp (using the flypress to bonk it into damp leather). Did all that first..

...then punch more holes and stitch it up. NB it will need a thin strip of leather sandwiched between the stitches (aka a welt) else the blade will cut the stitch open.

Doesn't get any easier.

I'm not unhappy with the result but I would change a few things about it. Serves it purpose for gardening duties.

Well thanks to @Fraserb I have amassed a decent stack of ex plough shares (?), the big round disks that farmers drag around fields for some unfathomable reason. They're about 275mm diameter and should be a very decent hardened steel. Bit of an awkward shape to work with but I decided to try and go with it. So here's the idea:

The BatAxe.

It's a throwing axe rather than a tool as such and I really wanted to keep it simple to make as few actual cuts as possible but got carried away so here it is. Don't know what they're like to cut yet, they are probably pretty damned tough...

It would do at a pinch. If I just happened to be out there with a set of throwing axes when an uninvited guest turns up, I don't think they'd be in a hurry to return ever.

They were the seeding disks from one of our seed drills, they cut open a furrow to drop the seeds into.

Think I'll get one not sure which too much to choose lol , I already have a normal.penknife and fixed blades I can make them now lol so like the look even of the opinels nice simple just a knife

I love opinels I've had a few over the years and there's one in my work trousers all the time

4 inch one hand opening and locking penknife no other fancy tools or gimmicks just wanted a nice simple one can pull out of pocket and use not mess around with little nail slots trying to pull blades out etc

The opinels didn't have one hand opening or as nice a locking imo and this was only 27 Frances so 24 quid for a Swiss made decent knife can't complain

Finally had a good excuse to walk about with a knife this weekend , it performed well

Battoning firewood , carving a rough spoon as I forgot one , chopping up veg and still seems rather sharp

Ive got the right hand sheath knife. A very tough blade, will cut material it’s not meant to.
