Its in progress have orded a couple of 14 pin plug and socket as a lot cheeper than the nato but same body size so looks right and flap will cover got the heater refited and the proper spair strap

lord of darkness has struck. At one point this afternoon i had all my gauges working bar my oil temp (no sender in site but it had been proven as working) i resided as things were going well to remove the rubbish extra lights on the fount with the relay and switch as well. Me pulling the wiring out has resulted in the gauges going strait to full and the panel lights not working. after a bit of digging around the wiring is in an even poorer state than i thought so this week its rewire land rover time!

I've made harnesses before, once you have bought all the rolls of different colours (plain & traced) and all the connectors/tape/sleeve it probably works out dearer than an "off the shelf" harness!.

If you do make your own, pull out the old harness and lay on a piece of plywood, put nails at all the branch points and ends to give a guide for the new cables.

I've found VWP a good source of materials.

Your oil temp sender could be in the sump, passenger side. Was told that's where they were mounted, so I shoved mine there.

Did that with (free) blue tri-rated once, just don't lose the drawing!

Know anything about wiring panels?
I need to wire a cnc mill, I removed all the electronics and
net month hopefully will be making a start on replacing them.

First difficulty is what sort of terminals to use.
What are the best type of crimps to use and what criping tool goes
with them. I have always bought uininsulated and soldered them on, this
is bikes and cars.

Tri rated, any idea of a cheap place to buy it, RS is expensive.

What are the best numbers/letters to use, the old wiring was all numbered and it looked pretty easy to follow.

Any idea how to use Eplan? While I can probably do it all in my head I woudl like a neat diagram split of multiple pages. Eplan looks the most unintuative software I have tried.

Tri is ok price from cpc you are best useing bootlace ferrals and crimping or soldering you can use any colour you like but earth must be green and yellow the push on numbers are good but fidly and the stick on ones fall off unless you clear heat shrink over them follow the drawing and tick terminals off as you go they often seam daunting but with alittle pariance and being mathodical its eary to do

I usually get tri-rated from local electrical factors, as for numbers, the best I have come across (and still use) are Partex go for chevron cut, colour coded in strip packs (singles, as I hate having to twist each number off a strip! ) use a needle applicator to fit them.

Just started to use e-plan last week by trial & error , boss has promised a course, but then he promises a lot of things and doesn't deliver

I started doing a diagram with Eplan in nov 2008, I expected it to be fairly simple e.g I wanted to diagram my limit switches and then on other diagrams pull up the cable from the limit switch diagram and be able to use the wires. Didn't seem to work like that, so I gave up. found other things to occupy myself;-)

trying to work out how to get the landy into my workshop for painting (carn't spray in work workshop!) have looked at the wheel skates but they seam a lot for glorifies casters! was thinking 4 big casters bolted to bottom (wheels removed) with unistrut/ steel box. question is how much does a lightweight weight stipiped down?

its on its wheels and is road worthy! but my workshop is to tight to drive and turn without assistance i have a civy one to strip as well
