I like the bird nest behind the dash, I've been looking at one today with a friend's lad, a series 2A. They have bought a new loom and the old one has had a few "additions" like yours and I'm just studying the wiring diagram to help him out over the next couple of days.

Every time I started the motor a bird used to flyout under the edge of my bonnet;-) Had a nest in the recess in the rear of the cross member a few years before that.

When I replaced the rear crossmember on my 101 I found the remains of a mouse nest in the chassis leg. The one where the wiring runs inside. Fortunately no signs of damage to wires.

the wiring diagram for a lightweight is surprisingly complex once you get rid of the convoy lights and the like and the ir relays its a lot simpler i did a goggle search and found a color one.

On the heater springs, I robbed one off a pair of circlip pliers. Pliers still work...
While it's apart check/re-do the foam around the matrix if it's fecked. Supposed to stop air escaping around the matrix, and force it though instead. Mine'd crumbled to dust.

good plan. i have one spring but missing the other. currently have all the pieces nitromorse striped and sand blasted. have started spraying primer and top coat. Will get it rewired and refitted next week if i have time with the chassis work i need to do. Any advice on how to stop the wires melting when I'm welding what to try to keep them in if possible

hose pipe has been used a few times before. or attatch some welding wire to the loom, very securely and feed it through new c/member, but make sure you push the loom down chassis leg far enough. when finished pull through and fannys your aunt

update found a small hole in the chassis forward of the bump stop the other day on further investerigation there was a split most of the way up one side of the chassis and a very large hole along the chassis about 6inch long and all the way accross. so took the wireing harness out and got it welded. i think the roll cage must have been holding it together. going to take the cage out as its getting in the way and i will not be useing off road other that the odd greenlane. will need to remount the seat belts but have an idea for that. Have taken the snorkal off and the engine is much happyer going to get a K&N for on top of the carb but i need to sort out the crank and rocker cover breathing out as its wrong.

today's progress. Have taken roll cage out and i'm open to offers if anyone has a use for it.

took the top of the side off and sorted a couple of hole out. After removing the existing seatbelt mounting points i made new brackets for inside the channel (same as old ones) and mounted up the good belt i have the driver side one didn't like getting removed and has jammed up so has gone in bin. Finished rewiring rear lights and have made provision for fog and reverse light. Drove home in air portable mode great fun but did get a few strange looks and doubt that the missus will go it it with no doors or windscreen next job finish rebuilding the heater

have replaced the spring bush on the rear drivers side today and the back is now level! i also have a working fuel gauge and the passenger now has a seat belt. If after a NATO plug to fit the socket i have to put on the back have tryed eBay but £50 seams very steep i'm trying to find the manufactorer as its probily a standard part but no luck to date so if any one has one please shout out!

I've got the pin-out connection diagram for the NATO plug if you need it, to think of it, it may be in those files somebody sent you the other day.

i would deffo get a sankey mate, i had one with my ex mod 90 and it looked the biz,

anchor supplies do the nato olive drab paint and it goes on lovely with a foam radiator roller if you were thinking of going origional with the paint.

Did you find the pinout?
When I first had mine I couldn't get a plug easily, so I made a plug, pretty simples really, some brass pins and a bit of ali tube, filled with epoxy..

Those are all the pins you need. I have that on the end of a foot of cable with a normal towing socket on the other end, so I can plug nato or civi plugs in. Amazingly it still work fine after ten years. I still haven't made an ali cover to go over the nato socket, I tie wrap polythene over it when it's not in use.
