I wired a IIA this year using a prefab wiring loom to the original spec just with a couple of modifications for an alternator and pre-engaged starter. If I was making one I would include a few more fuses than the standard loom.

Was that military spec though? The military Land Rovers have a totally different loom to accomodate the six way lighting switch, convoy and blackout lighting. Also the loom for the towing socket is completely different to civi.

You going for military spec wiring Madkayaker or a civi spec loom?

rain stoped play this weekend but have got compressers set up and ready to go and even got round to wireing the workshop properly so i don't have lots of extention leands to trip over/ drop things on which is good as two were 3ph

Your lower bulkhead looks in good condition. I have started making new ones as there's a shortage of repairable bulkheads for us landy nutters!
I will have the vent panel ready for you as promised

progress to date

axles back in after full strip down, paint etc
engine and gear box back in (have left engine well alone as is working gearbox and overdrive got rebuilt before the chassis swap)
most of the body panels have been sandblasted and repainted
pedals and steering back in steering works but the pedals don't yet

front breakfast has had new 2A panels welded in and is away being galvanised.


so its starting to get there!

I put new sheet metal on my breakfast, I painted it I should have had it galvanised really. Yours looks great.

it does have also refurbished the aux panels and fitted new know and label to the convoy switch. work got in the way of getting the landy in to work this week so will get her in next week and get pushed on a bit

finally got the landy into the workshop today so got some progress done! started piping up the brake and found i need to get a few more fittings so there on order. my new front bumper wont fit there is a strengthening bit of angle on the bottom edge near the dumb iron on the bumper that wont slide over the cross member plate so that is going to need adjustment! will take some photo's tomorrow promise!

Is it a civvy bumper? They're quite different to Lwt ones, I did get one to chop up but found a Lwt one. That fitting thing sort of rings a bell. could be a mile off though!

its a lwt one the civi bumper mounts very differently got it to fit with a bit of chopping

update on progress. That's the front panel i repaired and sent off for galvanising. have fitted a new rad that dis water tight but the rear hose is on the wrong side so have a flexibly hose at the moment that i'm not over happy with so that's to review. the tank that's sat of the cross member has had its top cut off and is now going to be my battery box with the started solenoid in etc as well as the winch control unit so that is out of the way! have got 4 6.50 goodyear MOD tyres so it will be back to origional spec just need to refurbish the speedo to suit that came for a civilian landy i broke for parts but it had (and would have left factory) on 6.00 tyres so its been telling lies all its life! the rear bumperts are on along with the rear lifting eyes just in case i need to throw it under a helicopter and lift it! brakes have all been piped up and rears bleed nice and easy but the fronts are not wanting to play ball! next job is to get her to run and get the electrics done!

no seat needed that's what the fuel tank is for! hope to get pushed on a bit now that's it in work as i can do a couple of hours before and after work
